Transparency has to be a core aim for a Carbon Regulator. It's not about adding red tape that companies will resist (and lobby against) but giving regulatory powers to make sure those businesses who are doing the right thing can maintain their competitive edge against those who are not.

Also has to be part of a wider package of measures that ensures consumer demand is there too.

The UN's report on integrity of #NetZero at #COP27    sends clear message on regulation:

📢Net-zero pledges need to move from voluntary commitments to regulated requirements

📢Transparency and accountability listed as one of the 10 principles

Carbon regulation here we come🎉

A reminder that good regulation establishes a credible framework for low carbon growth and gives consumers confidence I what they are buying.

It will also help ensure Net Zero has a material effect on emissions.
