Musk's first 100 days as Twitter CEO reminds me of Trump's first 100 days as President. Too bad Trump didn't resign (not that Musk's going anywhere).

@p @Hyolobrika@berserker.town Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Twitter has deleted their new anti-competition policy (both the help page and 'twitter support' tweet thread are gone. SMH.😂 #Twitter #competition
@BlackAzizAnansi Getting people away from advertisement is a good start. I saw some really graphic and paranoid shit pushed into my Facebook feed during the 2020 election (basically "elect trump or BLM will burn down your town"). I get similar stuff in my mailbox, but I think people are less receptive to that shit when they are grabbing the mail than when they are scrolling social media.

@p Twitter is inadvertently advertising for Nostr (treating it as some sort of competitor in their anti-competition policy). It seems to be in the early stages of development. Do you have any thoughts about it?

If Musk "steps down" as Twitter CEO, per his latest bogus "poll", some things to remember:
1) He'll still be the owner, and the owner makes the rules the CEO carries out.
2) He lies incessantly. Nothing he says can be trusted, ever.
3) Big Journalism will breathlessly cover the charade as if it meant something, and will continue to support a man who loathes honest reporting and has contempt for genuine freedom of expression.
Here’s what really happened in the stalking incident Musk cited to ban @elonjet. Read @drewharwell and my latest story https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2022/12/18/details-of-musk-stalking-incident/ #twittermigration #twitterexodus #twitter #tech #technology
It feels like with Elon Musk's confusing public descend into madness, people are slowly waking up to the weird powers of technology/society interfaces.
It is not surprising. It is complex. And it is going to get worse for democracy, unless we do something.

The inability of the Biden administration to name and confirm a permanent NIH director is a betrayal by a campaign that once claimed "the people have chosen science." Hollow words now.
President Biden must act. @erictopol My editorial: https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.adg3034
@zhivi In both the job candidate and the previous hiring manager, I see people who disagree with a policy and decided to openly deride the policy rather than work with it and be diplomatic in criticizing it (or 'gasp' -- suggesting improvements). That response would be a red flag as a hiring manager, even if I agreed that it was a bad policy. I want people who can be diplomatic when they disagree with things.
Perhaps the applicant is trying to signal "I think this D&I policy is a joke and I'm hoping you do too", in which case I would consider this response disqualifying. If the position has any seniority to it, I would expect the applicant to have thought about why many institutions have D&I programs and at least be able to say what they think are the most important aspects of D&I, and if they see problems with D&I they should be able to suggest better ways of promoting D&I.
@w7voa If you think that the Twitter policy is reasonable, delete them. If not, don't. Personally, I think the policy is incompatible with journalism. I think it's reasonable that they decided not to host the flight tracker (though there should have been more warning of the change), but saying that you can't talk about it being hosted on other sites is basically putting a wall around Twitter.

From the moment we had evidence that COVID might be airborne, I wore a mask. But not just any mask—an N95 or well-fitted KN95. At first these were really hard to come by, but now it’s quite easy to find them. Here’s how you can find a good one: https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/why-we-need-to-upgrade-our-face-masks-and-where-to-get-them/
The ONLY reason he reinstated some of the journalists was because of the EU threatening to pull the plug on Twitter, not because of some stupid poll.
