Nevada Hospitals warn children could be placed in adult beds

Spike in respiratory cases push NV hospitals to capacity. The association suggests teenagers/children over 110lbs be moved to an adult floor to free up space.

"If you're worried about your child's breathing, one thing you want to do is lift up their shirt to see if they're using extra muscles to breathe. It's usually an indication they're working hard&need to be evaluated."

Why is there so much #misinformation spread by very popular #influencers?

Well, that is what it takes to reach the top. Influencers who are not bound by #truth can optimize their #content for #engagement, they have more degrees of #freedom to create engaging #information products. 🔽

Thus the most engaging #content online produced by the most successful influencers is almost always #untrue.

1) Despite the fact most people wear face coverings in public places in Japan and South Korea, both countries are now experiencing resurgences in #COVID cases and hospitalizations. In this thread, I will try to explain what may be driving the 8th #pandemic waves in those nations.

And here’s a study that looked at Boston area schools that did and did not lift mask requirements. Shocking no one, #masks helped reduce the spread of #covid.

It looks like Meta just quietly (?) rolled out a new Large Language Model trained up on the scientific literature. At first glance it's not terrible—I was thinking I had reviewed worse—but it starts talking nonsense after a while.

Still, interesting and makes me think about the research papers I'll be receiving from students in coming years.

One of the things that struck me when I first got here was how much more "geographical" the mastoverse is than other social networks. The instances looked, to my newcomer eyes, like small places, villages, or large crowded cities.
