@drhettie Tenure became my super power. It allowed me to speak up, especially on behalf of my colleagues who were not on the tenure track or who were in vulnerable positions. Tenure gave me the freedom to pursue research questions that interested me. It protected me (to a degree) from academic political BS. I was always aware of and grateful for that rare privilege.

Looking for some help

A week or so ago, there was an article I saw get boosted a few times. It was about ants or some animal in Africa and the noteworthy part was that the (western?) researchers quoted the local community leaders as experts on the critter based on a long history of living together and included them as authors.

Can anyone help me find that article again? Boosts much appreciated!

After witnessing a white doctor refuse to treat a sick, elderly Native American woman who later died, Susan LaFlesche Picotte decided to become a physician to help her people. Born in 1865, she grew up on Nebraska’s Omaha reservation.

This mini mushroom was found in Taiwan and is believed to be Mycena subcyanocephala, often called the blue-headed bonnet. The species is characterized by its teeny tiny height of around 1-3 cm, and its blue to blue-gray cap (typically only 0.5–1.5 cm in diameter).

M. subcyanocephala thrives in temperate climates and usually colonizes decaying wood or leaf litter.
