@SNerd @dump_stack Moral stances can always be ignored, true. This is true for any individual or group of people. That doesn't change what those stances ARE. For libertarians, you can't cause anyone else harm. This is a core principle. Violating that would be like a Christian sect that doesn't believe in Jesus. The fundamental belief of Christians is that they are followers of Jesus. Now, the individual groups may pervert this, even lying about the teachings of Jesus, but that doesn't change the basic core principle. Also, it isn't 'big government' that libertarians oppose, it is 'government' at any level that violates individual rights. Government exists for one reason only, to a libertarian, to protect individuals. This is not what billionaires believe, at their core.

@SNerd @dump_stack , another point to make, is all libertarians, without exception, are anti fascist. You can't have both positions. There are many libertarian communist communities in the world, some right here in the USA. But fascism and libertarianism just don't mix. they are diametrically opposed.

@SNerd @dump_stack , because one of the primary moral stances of libertarians is if you cause harm to people, you get to fix the problem. Your property rights do not extend to harming your neighbors. There is no exception to this rule.

@dump_stack @SNerd Exactly. One of the Koch brothers ran as a libertarian for office back in the late 70s, but left the party when he figured out his family company would be destroyed by a libertarian government. Imagine being responsible to clean up your own oil spills??

@SNerd I highly doubt any billionaire is a libertarian. The concepts are almost mutually exclusive.

@HamonWry it's the mindless hate that bothers me most. And how it comes from all quarters.

Here me out, Temptation Island: Best Friend Edition. You and your best friend go to Temptation Island, where you have to spend time with other good buddies. You have to resist falling into a bromance.

@LaNaehForaday , I would say China faced an unprecedented crisis. As I have tried to make clear in this thread, NOTHING, no system of government, no laws, should be outright rejected and each has it's time and place where it may be the best option, and at other times and places, the worst. Right now, the China policy, if applied to the USA, would be a massive mistake. In my opinion.

@LaNaehForaday , I agree with you the issue exists, I just question the methods to address it. Ending child tax credits might be a better alternative, at least for any child past the second one. No more payments to people who are nothing but contributors to the problem.

@PaulDitz , I have as much sympathy for them as the guys who die every year trying to climb Everest.

@LaNaehForaday @Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social , I am not pro abortion, and don't think the state should be telling women they can't have children. Your body, your choice, no exceptions.

@Free_Press imagine thinking it a slur to be called a man who was born a man. Or woman who was born a woman. Musk has issues. I dont know what they are, but he has them.

I'm CIS, and really don't care if I am called that. It's just a fact that I am, and facts stand without judgment. They just are.

@realTuckFrumper , this is why we need a constitutional amendment saying that all government officials must tell the truth, or be fired.

@duckwhistle @Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social @LaNaehForaday interesting theory. So why bother to collect taxes?

@Flare @Radical_EgoCom@kolektiva.social @LaNaehForaday military dictator Tito both contributed to the end of Nazies, and did end small pox. When the last outbreak happened, he shut down his country and threatened to shoot anyone who stepped outside. He mass vaccinated the nation. This ended small pox.

You may not praise the man, that is your choice. But, his system worked in a way no other system could have. This is just fact. Even a military dictatorship has its time and place when it is the best system of government. This is true for all systems humans have devised or imagined.

Charlie Tennenbaum has been jailed for >7 weeks over flyers notifying a state trooper's neighbors that he's tied to the killing of a #StopCopCity activist.

“I think it’s protected by the First Amendment... I have the right to raise awareness about this."
