TIP OF THE DAY

Mastodon is not broken.

It's different, and much better. Mastodon by design promotes engagement and discourages instigating conflict. It's a dinner party, not a food fight. Most of what you might at first think is deficient is intentional. Before you rush to conclusions, try it for a while. Take part in this new community. Make new friends. Be kind. This is what social media should be. You will be amazed.

I believe in ghosts. I want them to follow their phantasmal dreams and become their best selves.

Don't just watch the world, see it, feel its presence around you, the water flowing, the living culture buzzing, flapping by, the colors contrasting in your eyes and their variations. Live--life.

Boys in the Street. Stepney, London, 1935 Photo by Edith Tudor-Hart.

A gun hidden within a bible, made for Francesco Morozini, Doge of Venice (1619-1694). The owner of the bible could pull the silk bookmark to shoot while the book was still closed. Now on display at the Museo Correr in Venice

"... do not expect or look for such quietude, but do make use of the opportunity. Make tea, crack the books, reach for the highlighter ... Do not expect daffodils, but do greet them. I am apparently no longer allowed to refer to a sysadmin as "uptime girl" and then sing "She's been living in her uptime world".
