I have a question. Asked sincerely.

Should one stick with his dream anyway, or just take what he has at the moment and wait for chances?

I graduated in 2022 with a Bachelor's degree in Computer science. But now it's over a year that I still failed to get a job in this crowded city (aka Beijing). From 7+ years ago I started learning Java and programming (mainly because of Minecraft, the Java edition of course), and I rarely work on other languages. After graduation, it comes with the territory, I want to work as a Java programmer (I mean, kotlin might count as Java, in my perspective). But with countless training classes and Layoffs, I can't get a job writing Java/Kotlin.

I don't know how job hunting works in other places, but here in China people don't care what you can or capable of doing something, but care what job/experience you have done in the past, kind of proof that you can do something. To me, that's kind of locked in someone's life way in a certain trajectory. You code once, you code forever, since you only have a job to code. You didn't code once, then you can't code forever, since you don't have a job/intern and people don't even give you a chance (because there are too many people who did that same thing before).

Recently I've been thinking (yeah, when I'm not fighting with my emotions which are hard to control), should I try another path? Like Ops, the one who fix your broken printer in the company, etc. I do help people building PCs, fix their networks, and some other issues with computers, but I never think it's a job. And I didn't see any growth in that path. And I don't think being a DC Ops will give you extra points when migrate. Also it's less paid. However, this might be the most likely job I will get in the near future.

What should I choose?

After 3 years at North Highland, I was laid off last Friday. I'm eager to connect with anyone who has or knows of Agile Coach, Kanban Service Delivery Manager or Scrum Master roles. I'm especially interested in places that are heavily regulated or where agile is not often used.

Ok, trying to figure this out.

We have tons of people suffering, no clean drinking water or no money to buy food, health services available but fiscally out of reach.

So we want to improve on those things, generally. Not much of an argument, maybe a bit of "what to improve first", but generally i guess we all (most of us) want to do this.

Lots of distractions, like who gets killed more in a fight, rallying people to some flag. Some politicians fighting, but it is clear that both don't want to improve stuff for us, people rallying to one of them.

Why do we do this? Why not form a position and reason out with others how to do that? Are we so tribal that we just flock to a leader, are we that primitive?

What could i do, what could we do to improve? Is it as hopeless as it seems?

I understand that hatred and division is easier than explaining and understanding, but is there really no chance to get anything useful done?

Some points about censoring fictional content there (censorship is a bad idea):

1) It might fuel someone's persecution complex. The idea of a dangerous world where people are out to get them. Feeds anxiety, alienation. It's happened a fair bit. It doesn't actually do anything positive.

2) Someone might see someone as an idiot or crazy (that's not wrong, lol). In any case, it poisons the well as someone is not seen to be credible or competent in these matters at all.

3) It violates someone's free expression. People have these things called rights, that's important.

4) Bad people don't need it. They can still do bad things. Good people are who'd suffer.

5) It violates the Constitution. Multiple constitutions.

6) Punishing someone because they resemble someone unpleasant isn't good. Also, due process still applies, in any case...

7) Can be a coping mechanism.

The current craze over *social media ruining democracy* and *AI posing an existential threat to humanity* stems from the fact that most people don't understand that the only thing is able to do is *amplify* their own capacity to do good or bad.
The Internet and AI are communication and intelligence , the same way motors and servo mechanisms are amplifiers of our muscle power.

Framasoft, the French non-profit organisation behind projects such as PeerTube and Mobilizon, has published their yearly report, titled ‘Let’s regain ground on the toxic web’. It details the work they have been doing over the last year, their future plans, as well as a donation drive. Over the next few weeks, Framasoft will dive deeper into specific parts of their plans and products: In the week of 28th of November they’ll talk about this years work on PeerTube, and 2 weeks later they will talk about next year’s plans for PeerTube. In between, they’ll tell us more about Mobilizon.

PeerTube will released their next version (v6) at the end of November, with important features such as video chapters and password protection for videos. Password protection especially will be an interesting feature to watch, as it positions PeerTube in a clear different place than YouTube; uploading videos that you want control over who gets to watch the video. Stay tuned for more information once v6 gets released.

Framasoft also announced that next year they will bet big on PeerTube, working on features such as better moderation tools, working on promoting the ecosystem more, and an official PeerTube mobile app. All of this will get covered in more detail in a few weeks time. Watch this space for more information on a special event as well!

Finally, Framasoft has also given an update on the federated event planning software Mobilizon. After four years of development, v4 will be the final version that will be released under Mobilizon. Framasoft says that they feel that they have completed their vision for the product, and that groups will have the features they need to organise their events.

🦞Dear Friends,

It is too :
- setting up 🐌
- accessing my accounts 💌
- 📚

I am not the fish on the but I try to be . I try to stick to what know. I know that an email account should just work. Trying to ‘recover’ my account, which was locked down because of suspicious (from me inadvertently).

Holy mother of COD I did not think I would ever get it back. I had changed to a more secure email 'service' proton mail (more trouble than solution) … they start you off free and then click and bait you into a paid service. Just like every app and consumerist type free service. Hands and claws up for a better internet?

Email is olde. Now very sadly I am using BUT have managed to set up gmail with Thunderbird 🫶
… With the help of the good gals and
emailselfdefense.fsf.org/en/

I have learned:
- simpler is better 🤓
- good people are helping 🥰
- FREE Software Foundation, Good people, Mastodon, good
- more good people please ♾️

I am galloping towards supporting good, without a horse or a kingdom …
