The expression of antisemitism in supposed support of a just cause, directly or implied, is never about that just cause. It is always motivated by hatred toward the Jewish community. History has consistently demonstrated this. Do not fall for that hateful nonsense.

@charlotteclymer Yeah, but on the flip side, showing compassion for the victims of genocide is *not* antisemitism, despite the many claims to the contrary.

@LouisIngenthron @charlotteclymer “yeah, BUT”. If you wake up to the huge problem of well poisoning only when Jews are blamed, perhaps you are not really motivated by, nor are you really an expert in, water contamination. “Yeah BUT”.

@ashmueli @charlotteclymer Or maybe people "woke up to the well poisoning" when they saw the state backing up truckloads of cyanide to the edge of the reservoir.

@LouisIngenthron @charlotteclymer that’s a very stupid thing to say if you are NOT an antisemite. Or perhaps you are not stupid. Hard to say from here.

@ashmueli @charlotteclymer If you believe that opposing the violence being perpetrated by the state of Israel is opposing all Jewish people, then you're the one invoking the antisemitic tropes here. It's like calling someone an Islamophobe because they oppose violent jihadists. The extreme minority is not equal to the whole.

Believe it or not, some of us are capable of opposing the actions of a few bloodthirsty fascists who happen to be Jewish without holding it against the rest of the Jewish folks across the world.

@LouisIngenthron @charlotteclymer that’s good.

What is your stake in it? I mean, what happens to you personally if you are right or wrong here?

Are you the chicken here or the pig?

@ashmueli @charlotteclymer Do I require a stake to oppose genocide? If so, then my stake is my shared humanity with the civilians and children being slaughtered.

@LouisIngenthron @charlotteclymer no, of course not. We both oppose genocide. We don’t both share the same stake, which makes for an unbalanced dialog. As the pig said to the chicken, you will be involved, but I will be committed. It hurts the pig far, far more to make ham and eggs, not to mention the pig may know a lot more about the slaughterhouse. So keep resisting genocide. Good luck.
