“Serious New Warning As Google AI Targets Billions Of Private Messages”
The AI Bubble is anti-privacy, anti-labour, anti-quality, and in an all-out war against anything resembling a creative practice. This is who you’re siding with when you’re using these tools. https://www.forbes.com/sites/zakdoffman/2024/01/28/new-details-free-ai-upgrade-for-google-and-samsung-android-users-leaks/?sh=3396b4317a94
@baldur Time to switch from Android then. I can't take companies seriously when they immediately try to push the latest fads into their systems like horny teenagers who just discovered a new band that's just THE COOLEST(tm), especially not at the cost of the users and our privacy. It's pathetic and I'm not taking part.
@craftycat @baldur Switch to what? iPhone, which tracks your location and sends it to Apple (and will probably have this exact same problem too within 6 months), or something else that no app makers support?
@LouisIngenthron @baldur Apple is obviously out. I'd rather have a smaller app selection than have Google read my in depth private conversations with friends and family. Google and Apple having essentially sole power on the market is a choice by the users, not some magical natural order that we have to obey.
@craftycat It's less a choice by users and more a choice by app vendors. I've been there. I tried really hard to make Windows Phone 8 work (it was a great platform), but the lack of app support is what eventually killed it. Fewer users means fewer apps means fewer users means bankrupt platform.
@craftycat Good luck with that. Like I said, I've been there before.
