@emilygorcenski I mean, it worked with Bud Light, which I didn't think was possible, so yeah, totally plausible.
@chrishudsonjr Also love that game. Very underrated. It has a lot of very subtle touches that really tie it together.
Lack of accountability for one's actions is the #1 problem in this country, both in the private and public sectors.
Every other problem stems from it.
@Sheril I feel like that's just part of the human condition, not a uniquely American thing.
There will always be people pushing for new unknown boundaries just as there will always be people more comfortable in the debunked facts of the past.
So let me get this straight. The GOP got rid of their Speaker, Kevin McCarthy, because he dared push through a continuing resolution on the budget with the help of mostly Democrats. So after cycling through four possible other leaders, they pick a guy with zero experience and tons of skeletons, who then proposes and pushes through…a continuing resolution on the budget with the help of mostly Democrats. Genius.
@ThinkingSapien That's nuts. Everyone should know that simple pattern by heart.
@ThinkingSapien I've been thinking I ought to learn that... especially after learning the proper phonetic alphabet.
@jnv @peterdrake Brave has serious privacy issues, though, and the people running it are untrustworthy, and their insistence on crypto usage is suspect as well. Don't use Brave.
@gerrymcgovern I cannot disagree with this take more.
You talk about saving Nature, but what is the preferred tool of conservationists worldwide? Photography and videography, now disseminated over the internet.
Mass-accessible photography has been a wonderful tool for human expression, social progress and accountability, and personal enrichment of life by allowing everyone to record part of their existence in this world.
Data storage runs on electricity, so it is primed and ready to run on clean energy where available. Not to mention that these energy concerns are minuscule in terms environmental damage done by the big players in more destructive industries.
This is such a weird environmental hill to die on. You are damning such a small, artful, human piece of the pie that genuinely brings joy and positive change into the world!
Besides, who are you to say that 90% of these photos are "crap"? I bet most of those photos mean something to someone, just not to you.
@gerrymcgovern Shit, at least people enjoy looking at those photos.
They're a drop in the bucket compared to bitcoin miners.
@artcollisions @gannet @Fredatron Karate instructor Elmar Schmeisser says that acquiring a skill is like carving a cube into a sphere--every corner you cut off just makes new corners. There comes a point when all you see of your own work is corners, whereas someone who lacks your skills sees a pretty close approximation of a sphere!
@peterdrake What's wrong with DuckDuckGo?
@onreact It's not my job to back up your wild claims. That you choose not to back your nonsense up with facts tells me you know damn well how full of shit you are.
Stop trying to troll people. This is Mastodon, not Twitter.
Very good commentary on the new #UssupremeCourt Code of Conduct, from @Dahlialith. https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2023/11/new-supreme-court-ethics-code-alito-thomas-roberts-nah.html
@admitsWrongIfProven @jeffcliff Other countries have stronger laws against speech.
So, where these assholes are very visible in America, they tend to work hidden, under the surface, in other countries.
Personally, I think the US approach is better in that respect. Can't fix what you can't see.
@rhm Right, but even then, such a game would more likely than not end up feeling soulless and meandering.
Plus, without a vision, you'll end up copying its flaws too.
@onreact @jon
>"Most searches are 'no click' searches by now."

>"With AI search ("SGE") Google just uses copy and pasted or regurgitated third party content on their own sites and the chance of click through is minuscule."
That's not how LLMs work, and have they even released that yet, or are you freaking out about something they're still considering?
>"Why should two gatekeepers get most of the advertising revenue on journalistic content globally? Can you please explain that?"
Because they're the ones delivering that content to waiting customers. That's like asking "why should paperboys get a cut of the news?"
@onreact @jon Except they're not "stealing" content. They're distributing links that point back to the source where the journalists get paid through their choice of ad-supported business model.
If anything, Google should be charging them delivery fees for putting their headlines in front of millions of eyes.
