@freemo Ah, ground hog day... the one day a year you can pet the electric hogs without special gloves.

It's so nice to have a giant conspiracy theory with stakes low enough to laugh about again.

@chrishudsonjr The article says it would have to "appear to a reasonable person to be indistinguishable from an authentic visual depiction of the individual". So, in theory, anything that's caricatured would be safe...

@annmlipton Doesn't the word "gambit" imply it is intentional?

Seems like just another example of his fans rewarding him for throwing a temper tantrum.

@jann Ooh, that does sound good. I've done slow-cooked pulled pork in the crock pot before, but haven't ever tried pressure-cooking it.

@carnage4life Sure, but they've had a decade of adblockers to portend that problem and they've steadfastly refused to address it. Screw 'em.

@jann Well, yeah. When it's at the gate, it's stationary, so no wheels would fall off, and when it's flying, the gear is stowed, so no wheels would fall off. The little bit of time it's driving on the ground in between would be when that sort of mechanical failure reveals itself. Better that it fall off on a taxiway preparing to take off than right after landing.

And, again, this isn't unheard of. A commercial jet tire exploded last year. Nobody was hurt then either.

These planes are built with all kinds of redundant systems and safety features that ensure, when they do inevitably fail like all mechanical systems do, nobody gets hurt.
And that's what's important. You can't prevent every mechanical failure, but you can make sure they don't cost lives.

So, a couple months back we wrote about how Appin, an Indian company, had forced Reuters to remove an article that presented evidence of Appin's connections to "hack for hire" operations. Appin demanded we remove it. We will not do so.

@jann As a pilot myself, they are very much not 😁 . Runway is a danger zone. Taxiways are safe and slow.

@jann Not really. (A) It came off on the taxiway, not the runway. And, more importantly, (B) the landing gear sees some of the heaviest use of any equipment on the plane. But also, if I recall correctly, that plane was like 30 years old, so it's definitely not the manufacturer's fault at that point.

I do believe some airlines, however, skimp on maintenance to keep prices low, and they are getting off the hook way too easy while everyone yells at Boeing.

@jann This sort of thing happens all the time, and it's often not the manufacturer's fault. You run an engine all day every day for years on end and it's gonna have an issue eventually. There's a reason every airplane has to have its engine(s) totally rebuilt every two years. Learning how to handle a loss of engine power is one of the first things a new pilot learns.
The media are sensationalizing every little thing since the door plug failure. With the number of planes in the air, there's no way everything will always be perfect, but we have systems in place to keep people safe and those systems are working.

Judge Lewis Kaplan had just a few short words to share with the jury moments after they issued a $83.3 million verdict against Donald Trump in the defamation case brought by E. Jean Carroll. It was advice on how to stay safe.

“My advice to you is that you never disclose that you were on this jury,” Kaplan said.

That's the sort of thing that happens in a mob trial.

Can someone please explain to me why political candidates think the rest of us give a fuck about their fundraising deadlines?

@peterdrake Any new tool qualifies for that statement, when an organization uses it irresponsibly.

@peterdrake Did you copy over the Library folder? It tends to be full of intermediate files that may be platform specific. Close the unity editor, delete the library folder, and open the project in the editor again. It'll take a minute to rebuild the library folder on launch, but hopefully that should resolve the issue.
