@Ricardus Is there a list of these somewhere and the reasons behind them?

I'm all for content warnings to prevent resurfacing unwanted trauma, but I never would have even considered some of the things you listed above as being triggering.

Seriously though, fedi was *built* by furries, trans and queer folk, disabled neurodivergent people.

This is *the reason* the culture here is what it is. Why CWs are a thing. Why image descriptions are a thing. Why privacy matters here. Why moderation tools not only exist, but are usable — and used.

If you had joined and asked yourself "wow, how come this place is so chill and kinda… nice?" — that's thanks to all the nice people from communities some people call "weird".

So #KeepFediWeird.

Okay, I'm not usually one for posts, but here goes:

I grew up in the very conservative American Midwest and then moved to on my 18th birthday.

I love building more than I love playing them. I started my career with working on their first game (what later became the UFC series). I've since gone indie and released two by myself: (store.steampowered.com/app/923), a big game still in Early Access, and (store.steampowered.com/app/174), a little game built around the idea of gameplay driving music. I also released a fun little demo for a while back called (lucidsilencegames.itch.io/grap)

I'm still building more games (and working on uFactory!) while paying the bills with drier work, hoping to eventually release a game that can grasp a chunk of the zeitgeist.

On here, I'll mostly be debating , (largely in the context of 's ), and general . My political leaning can most closely be described as "left-libertarian". I.e. Everyone deserves , consistent with the policy. I registered as a on January 7th, 2021.

Feel free to reach out. I'm happy to debate anyone in good faith.

@Romaq True, but shared lingo is key to the cohesiveness of any group. Having standardized terms that the whole fediverse agrees upon helps to avoid confusion and misunderstanding.

@joelmartinez I think the phone app is the cutting edge for this system, so maybe it was just released and most instances just haven't caught up yet...

@Romaq Yeah, especially after reading @Gargron's explanation, it seems like a very unnecessary artifact holding Mastodon back a bit.

@Extra_Special_Carbon @mollyjongfast
Ah, never mind, I see the source of confusion.

The instance I'm on *does* offer a quote option. I didn't realize the rest of you don't have that button.

Hey @freemo, are there any plans to replace the "toot" lingo on this instance with "publish" like they did with the official mobile apps?

I get that there's no algorithm in 's main feed, but it would be nice if favorites caused replies to bubble up to the top.

That would make it much easier to track interesting conversations like you could on Twitter.

Republicans are simultaneously ensuring Pennsylvania takes as long as possible to tally votes and citing that lengthy counting process as evidence of fraud. mediamatters.org/fox-news/comi

@joelmartinez I thought hashtag following was a "coming soon" feature. Is that already released?

Another note for new #TwitterMigration folks like me: social norms here are that we don’t censor names like “Musk.” It shouldn’t be necessary, because full-text search isn’t really a thing and trolls are actually moderated.

If content is potentially offensive, put it behind a CW, but don’t “c*nsor” it because this breaks people’s filters (i.e., prevents them from being able to mute words).

@peter Good luck, but I still use band-aids on cuts and kleenexes when I sneeze.
