@trainman @rbreich If you'd watched the committee's hearings, you'd already know the very damning answers to those questions.

@jmsjms @rbreich He's his party's current front-runner candidate. The time for vigilance has not yet ended.

@manu I don't think posting something online for the general public qualifies as "sharing" it with someone. Certainly not to the extent that is confers reproduction rights.

Maybe someone should create a website that reposts all of Business Insider's articles without linkback or attribution and just put in small text at the bottom "Insider has shared a number of their articles with this website."

Holy crap, Liz Upton is just showing incredible depths of incompetence in this article.

Basically everything she said was wrong.

How is she still employed?

@cathygellis It does sound awfully close to @mmasnick's beat.

Although, I wonder how many of these nooks and crannies have actually been explored by courts vs being quickly & quietly settled by wildly disproportionate parties. Would there be enough established precedence for such an article?

@cathygellis Interesting. Hadn't heard of anything like that before, but it does sound like some nonsense.

Would be interesting to read an article about that. "5 Unexpected Legal Risks of Using Company Media" or something.

@cathygellis Idk, I think most people assume their boss has full access to all of their work media, and govern their speech accordingly

So long as one isn't doing anything illegal or fire-able, the company-run platforms are typically the most private and secure method of communication (for the company, anyway, not the employee). Using external systems opens the company up to a whole host of security and legal troubles. (Full disclosure, I've been a CTO running such systems in the past.)

Can you cite any examples where an employee was harmed for using company media while not doing anything wrong themselves?

@cathygellis Can you please expound on this?
Why are employees "fools" for communicating on employer IT systems?

In this particular instance (a billionaire shitposter bought the company and aired their dirty laundry), it ended poorly, but that seems more like an exception than a rule.

@JenLucPiquant Lmao, that's a sci-fi article masquerading as science.
The proposal isn't "jaw-dropping". Rather, it's "laugh-inducing."
Can't call something a plan if it has ten steps labeled "Wait for someone to invent something to solve this gigantic problem."

This isn't "jaw dropping". It's "complete nonsense".

With our current level of tech, this proposal is exactly as plausible as establishing a base on the surface of the sun, and ought to be treated as such.

@joaopinheiro @freemo @Ryle I'm all for intolerance of intolerance, but intolerance of tolerance of intolerance seems to be taking it a step too far.

@jake Dunno, seemed comparable to every other meme shared on social media.

I think I just answered my own question. It's a "white grub". A larva form of June Beetles.

Creepy insects

Dear god, what is this horrifying giant grub thing my dog found in the yard?

Reminder:

The people who work for you have three resources: time, energy, and give-a-fuck.

Time is the cheapest. It replenishes one hour every hour.

Energy is more expensive. When you're out, you need lots of time off to recharge.

Once give-a-fuck is burned, it's gone forever.
