@textualdeviance @Wikisteff @Haste @gulovsen And the further you go, the less grounded to reality it gets. It actually lists "buying less plastic" as a thing adults should do to address climate change 🤦♂️
@CdnCurmudgeon I don't think any of those are new phenomena though.
@textualdeviance @Wikisteff @Haste @gulovsen Agreed.
And there were other similar issues with the article. "Nuclear bombs weren't going off in their classrooms every day," the article says, implying that mass shootings are going off every day. But that's only true if you're watching the national news. Most kids have never been near a shooting, much less involved in one, and the "active shooter" drills that adults make them repeat over and over seem to be feeding the problem more than the solution.
Likewise "robots are going to take their jobs" is a century-old concern with shiny new branding.
Kids do have legitimate reasons to feel sad and depressed in the modern day, but 90% of those reasons are the same ones kids have been dealing with since the dawn of humanity.
Okay, nationalize Starlink and SpaceX yesterday, please. We cannot have this lunatic deciding who wins wars.
Good. Whatever they entail, "parental rights" don't extend to compelling teachers to violate a student's reasonable expectation of privacy. If your kid is using different pronouns and doesn't want you to know, there's a reason for that, and the solution is to be a better parent and so earn your kid's trust, not use the law to further violate it. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/09/06/us/california-school-transgender-notification-policy-blocked.html
@ThinkingSapien But the answer to your initial query, where employees choose their days, is still 100.
@ThinkingSapien Okay, yep, if you schedule it properly, the answer is indeed 60. I wrote a scheduler to test my theory. I've included the source code and results below.
@ThinkingSapien Wait, I see the flaw in my math. Let me run the proper numbers.
@ThinkingSapien In a proper workspace for human beings? No.
In a box-factory for employee-person-units? Sure, you could get it down to 3/5ths (based on 3 days per 5 day work week), so 60 desks.
@ThinkingSapien Of their choosing? Then, 100.
@ThinkingSapien I won't be surprised when that becomes a major driving factor for employees seeking new jobs either.
@ZachWeinersmith Correct. It's not about winning the lawsuit. It's about intimidating the target (and sometimes also about fundraising from his army of rubes). He knows he has more money and can throw more resources at an army of lawyers. All he has to do is commit more than they can afford to combat. It's a war of attrition.
@brody I like being able to use reaction GIFs, but I agree that they should be limited; smaller sizes, animate only on mouse-over, that kind of thing.
@ServerWrestler No way. After everything we've seen at this point, he really is just that stupid.
It is interesting how hard it is for most of us to grok that people that "successful" can be that stupid, but I guess that's institutionalized nepotism for you...
Sounds like an animation bug. Some rare combination of character creator traits makes a transition fail to find its animation which would cause the transition (i.e. shooting) to fail as well, if it's animation-driven. Probably other traits they could change on their character than the gender to fix it (i.e. maybe height/weight), but gender is enough of a major change to be a consistent fix.
Sounds like the kind of bug that would be difficult to identify, but easy to fix, so here's hoping they get it in the first patch.
Urgent, boosts appreciated: My web host, Heart Internet, is imploding (I found this out AFTER I'd paid them for a year's worth of dedicated server up front) and I need recommendations for a company doing dedicated servers. Please, PLEASE only tell me about companies that you personally have used and have positive firsthand experience with, please don't just google this for me.
@ifixcoinops If you've got the budget for it, I've been using Gigenet professionally for 5+ years for both cloud and dedicated servers. They're a bit pricey, but their tech is solid and their customer service is top-notch.
