It's frankly embarrassing how many serious dramas that are not about acting include scenes where a character takes an acting lesson in a basement studio.

We are now on the 7th or 8th Clarence Thomas revelation that would have resulted in the resignation of a Supreme Court justice in any other era of American history.

@kendraserra I'm not in that world, so couple questions:
Do they currently get any kind of credit?
Is "authorship credit" a special kind of credit?

@dameoutlaw@mstdn.social No, the Ukrainian example was specifically refuting the claim that firearms cannot be used defensively.

@tothedaring Actually, I get paid just fine. That's what happens when you foster a reputation of keeping your word and paying your debts.

@freemo Looks like it came out pretty balanced, lol. Neither of our claims are well-supported. I was expecting much more of a blowout.

@tothedaring In other words "boost this if your word means nothing and you shouldn't be trusted."

@admitsWrongIfProven In essence, yes, but that power stems not from his position as speaker, but rather as his position as leader of the majority. If he knows the majority won't vote for it (because that's what he's pushing for) then there's no reason to bring it to a vote.

@admitsWrongIfProven They're the leader of one of our two houses of legislature. They essentially choose which bills get voted on. Also, if both the President and VP die, the Speaker is third in line for the Presidency. Those are the big ones.

@ariaflame No, someone who commits a mass shooting is, by definition, not a "good guy with a gun".

"Good guy with a gun" is someone who uses a gun to defend the defenseless. It has nothing to do with who you work for.

@ariaflame I don't even know how you could have possibly gotten that from what I wrote. Please work on your reading comprehension.

@soller Ugh, that's not what "good guy with a gun" means. 🤦‍♂️

I’m so freaking tired of learning about how often rich people get all their debt forgiven, how they get free vacations, blah blah blah all while poor and middle class folks get told all the time how they just don’t know how to handle money and should stop eating avocados and getting coffee.

Harlan Crow and a few billionaires have provided Clarence Thomas with:

-38 destination vacations

-26 private jet flights

-6 helicopter flights

-Yacht voyages

And we're going to let Thomas rule on Moore v. US, which could permanently shield billionaires from a wealth tax?
