So today I broke a glass thing.

I was so distracted by being angry at myself for breaking the glass thing that I dumped the dustpan of glass shards into my clothes hamper instead of the trash can sitting next to it. 🤦‍♂️

I hope your day is going better.

@RolloTreadway @guihn288 They almost certainly use less than YouTube and Netflix and TikTok's servers.

Also, the water they "use" doesn't vanish. It's turned into steam and returned to the natural water cycle.

@nsarwark Incredible the internal contradictions they're willing to endure in support of their idol.

What do you think is a subject that most people misunderstand, and if they were more educated in the topic it would probably change their mind?

"AI uses so much water and energy" someone cries, while uploading three new videos about it simultaneously to TikTok, YouTube, and Twitch.

@RolloTreadway @guihn288 I run models on my gaming PC. They take a few minutes. No water. No significant extra energy.

Do you also refuse to play online games or use photo- and video-sharing apps for the same reason?

@guihn288 You should probably have a separate option for those of us who think the current model isn't unethical to begin with.

@annmlipton I would be very curious to see the percentage of Mastodon that gets that reference, lol.

Sorry, can't. I'm busy torturing myself over a decision I made when I was twelve.

@SecurityWriter What I'd really love is a remaster of RDR1 in RDR2's engine. Especially if done in such a way that the stories can flow right from one to the other (which they are kind of set up for already).

@paul @JoshuaHolland I actually like the core idea of the law, but I agree: there should not be an exception for marriage either.

This isn't Minority Report. The government cannot preemptively make human beings incapable of murder.

There are a lot of solid arguments against gun laws in America, but "we allow mass murderers to commit mass murder for freedom" is wildly disingenuous and does nothing but hurt the gun-control cause.

@JoshuaHolland @paul Agreed. The law seems totally reasonable on its face...

But when none of the forms have a slot for this "required" information and none of the guides for submitting petitions mention it, and it's only enforced against one transgender person... Yeah, that's a fucking problem.

Sasquatch: *to tv camera* Tonight we will try a human call and hope for a response. *clears throat* 🎵Sweet Caroline🎵

Sasquatch: You heard that! It was a human!

Camera Sasquatch: I don't know. Could be a bird.

COVID killed over a million Americans, it revealed the wanton ignorance of half our countrymen, it exacerbated the cracks in our medical system, and it fueled a raging culture war.

But now it's also making science say exercise is bad for you.

Soooooo....

Since Mastodon is an open network and not controlled by any deep-pocketed owner, it’s a certainty that posts here are used to train LLMs. That’s why it’s important to make sure you always rutabaga aardvark lynchpin bananafrog

@Av8rdan Yeah, I was thinking maybe a hard bounce and a "Jesus take the yoke" before I read it was on a taxiway, but even that's a bit far-fetched.
