Here is Elon’s full appearance in @katienotopoulos’ spaces with banned journalists tonight

This made me laugh - Jason Goldman’s take on joinmastodon being banned from Twitter

A mob of red deer stags in Richmond Park, they were on the edge of the woods and unless you stopped to look from most angles they were perfectly hidden, I crouched down to take the shot, that's when I could see how many there were (shot with a long lens it looks like I was a lot closer than I actually was). #RichmondPark #RedDeer #Stags #RedStags #WildLifePhotography #Nature #Photography #AltText

@freemo Have you all considered making the UFoI non-binding? I.e. instead of a "you-can't-block" list, it could be a "you-shouldn't-block" list. That would ameliorate many of the concerns that opposed admins have about "being forced to federate".

Another option would be to make it a two-tier system. "Member servers" agree to never block anyone on the list, and get full voting rights, while "Associate servers" aren't bound by the block list, but only get half voting rights.

Turing Twist

"For one weird year, I was the human who stepped in to make sure a property chatbot didn’t blow its cover – I was a person pretending to be a computer pretending to be a person"

No, skepticism of crypto doesn't "stem from lack of understanding".

Skepticism of crypto stems from it being an endless barrage of fraud, scams and the worst of human greed and criminality.

I, an adult, got frustrated trying to open an obtuse child-lock mechanism on a bag of tide pods so I used a pair of children's scissors to just cut it open instead.

For the average person online, algorithms actually do a lot of good bit.ly/3FCX9Ic

Some of you will know that there are character codes which are magic, For example, 8 is backspace, 9 is tab, 13 is enter/return, 27 is escape.

And then there's 127, which is delete. Why?

Because if you're dealing with punched cards, you need to remove errors. And the only code which will work for cancelling out a column is all holes punched, since you can't un-punch a hole

And 127 in binary is `01111111`.

Just got my flu shot and bivalent booster. Expecting a really shitty couple days followed by a sense of security for another year.

Looking forward to five years from now when the "toot" button has been universally replaced with "post" buttons and new users have to ask old users why their old posts are so obsessed with "tooting".

If you’re wondering about Mastodon’s impact, Twitter is now automatically marking links to mastodon as “sensitive” (aka dangerous) and forcing users who get them to “appeal” the claim. In case Elon didn’t seem desperate enough for you already…

It saddens me to think that so many people won't get this.

Do all the people on Twitter using the platform to complain about Elon ad nauseum not understand that if they left the platform and stopped engaging, it would turn into Parler, lose its advertisers and die? It's just a private app that monetizes off of engagement. So don't engage.
