I hate the attitude that working very hard is some kind of moral obligation, it just isn't. People on salary that get asked to work overtime are being stolen from, period. It's interesting how often jobs will ask you to prove that you're a good worker, but never have to prove that they are good employers. Just like any good relationship, you should never be giving more than you're getting back.

A substantial number of insect biologists study social parasites. These are organisms that infiltrate the colonies of social insects, like ants or wasps, and divert resources to themselves without contributing to the functioning of the colony.
I gotta say, the super-wealthy who offshore money and purchase judges and politicians fit nearly every techincal definition of social parasitism.

This is an illustrative story:
TV Misogynists chat on TV about how some female journalist is so awful they wouldn't even wanna screw her.
Which at least causes a bit of a fuss. Enough so that another TV show invites on a lefty journalist woman to debate some right wing dude on whether there's really a patriarchy and if misogyny exists.
The dude lets it slip that they're paying him to do so, which takes a few seconds to sink in. You can see the outrage on her face as it dawns on her that he's getting paid and she isn't.
To talk about whether there's really any culture of misogyny.
Have snorkel kits become a standard option on overcompensator trucks now?
I remember when a snorkel kit was something the user had to install themselves. It meant they knew a bit about mechanics and drove through some real terrain.
Now I see them on shiny waxed-up gigantotrucks driving through the city, where they only serve to further block the driver's vision.
Huh. Looks like, when you place an online order from WingStop, they use a *Chinese* payment processor. For an American company taking American dollars.

#BLM attempted to corral the cattle in 2014 and was outnumbered by armed vigilantes, foreshadowing January 6th.
In 2014, he owed an estimated $1,100,000 in fees and fines.

My mum would spend hours ironing clothes when I was a kid. I dont think I’ve ever seen an ironing board at any of my friends houses. A whole generation just said “fuck ironing” and we did. Good work everyone.
I knew before today, that in theory, insurance only exists to take my money, not to actually insure things.
But last year there was a hurricane, and I figured that was special enough circumstances to warrant making a claim.
Boy, was I mistaken. I have learned my lesson. Insurance companies in Florida are the mob, and if you try to get even a dollar out of them, they will not hesitate to break your legs.

So, it looks like I'm about to lose my homeowners insurance because my insurance company fucked me.
Since I live in Florida, and the GOP government has completely ignored the issue, I might not be able to find alternate insurance.
Which means I might have no option other than quick-selling my house by early next year.
Fuck #RonDeSantis. He was so busy with culture wars that he let this state rot.

Folks, if your employer misses even *one* paycheck to you, quit immediately. Don't let them run up a tab on your free labor. If a business is failing to make payroll, then they're already in such dire straits that bankruptcy is likely and then you probably get nothing.
You can debate whether north is 0 degrees or 360 degrees all day long, but I'd like to think we can all agree that "360 to 179" is the very wrong way to write that range.
I will literally never remember the difference between categories of aircraft with respect to the certification of aircraft and categories of aircraft with respect to the certification of airmen, which are somehow two totally different things.
Another one. On the test, sometimes, when you see "---", it means "zero". Other times, it means "figure it out yourself".
There isn't much available to indicate which is which.
