Atheist; loathe almost all religions and pity the people deluded enough to follow them. I make exceptions for Buddhism as it isn't really a religion in the strictest sense of the word as it doesn't postulate the existence of any god, and Jainism which is the epitome of peace.
For anyone who is interested, my header photo is of the most stupendous sunset I have ever seen. On the right is the waterfront of Vientiane, the capital of Laos, on the left is Thailand and in the middle, acting as the border between the two countries is the mighty Mekong river.

#climatechange is putting much of our #food supply at risk, yet #politicians still think they can put off action(s).
The #climatecrisis is real but while we think there's some (near) future technical fix, or that somehow it'll all be alright if we just #recycle a bit more, the coming sudden climate tipping point is going to be a major problem for human civilisation.
Each year the price of inaction grows, and a 'proportionate' response belittle actual Govt. actions!

If only the unemployment rates provided by the government were somewhere close to the reality on the ground but they aren't. They have been manipulated so much by the tory scum that they are practically meaningless!

The Conservatives say they can’t afford the Pension Triple lock because it is too expensive.
The UK has the lowest State pension in Europe, the oldest retirement age in the world and is the 6th richest nation in the world.

In light of yesterday's foiled plot to assassinate President Joe Biden, comedian & film writer Sacha Baron Cohen illustrates how easy it is to radicalise normally rational folk, if they can be convinced they must act to defend their belief/faith.
All satire aside, left/right political & religious radical extremism is surging across the world. But when you add the new phenomenon of #CONspiracyTheories like #QAnon into the melting pot, we truly are in dangerous times. 🙏🏾

You'll be unsurprised to learn that UK #households are worse off that their US equivalents... and that much of the difference lies in #housing costs & the continuing problem(s) with #productivity in the UK.
Perhaps (a little more interestingly), one thing that stops the wealth gap between US & UK growing is expense of #healthcare in the US & their dire #publicservcies (although here the UK is trying to catch up).

I met an American girl in Thailand who was teaching English up on the Burmese border where Japanese B Encephalitis (25% fatality rate) and malaria are endemic. She hadn't had the readily available vaccine against encephalitis and wasn't taking anti-malarials. I found it hard to believe that anyone could possibly be that dumb!
