If Microsoft's efforts are anything to go by - mankind is in the deepest trouble!

This was Microsoft's astoundingly helpful to my search for the area on their website where I could sort out issues with my 365 subscription!

Oooh, 2% cashback off [brand name]. Tempting.

Yes, I have noticed that "the way things are in childhood", is absorbed into the deepest reaches of one's psyche as 'the right, proper and correct way for things to be' and that anyone suggesting change that threatens that harmonious state of affairs is a charlatan and a wrecker of all things good and wholesome!

What a sad fuckin species we are!

Good Morning, all

The Tories tell us their core belief is in cutting taxes because the individual knows better how to spend their money than does the government.

Believe the Nastiz. Because they know of what they speak. From direct experience.

Three Tory PMs have wasted £99+ BILLION of taxpayers' money since Boris Johnson won the 2019 General Election on a lie.

(The Nastiz are also wrong: tax, wisely levied and spent, funds public services)

#GeneralElectionNow!

Unconditional basic income is a human right, crucial for self-determination and freedom from coercion. It's immoral to coerce actions by withholding basic needs like food. UBI offers restitution for private property created without compensation for the loss of our access to land.

I think Britain and the US are in neck-and-neck competition for the title of greatest shithole in the western world and, whilst Britain briefly took the lead with the Brexit fiasco and its ramifications for ordinary Brits in the street, the US has now surged ahead again with its abandonment of the right to abortion and a great torrent of other legislation targeting all manner of minorities.

I'm sure some extreme right-wing state will pass legislation shortly making it unlawful to be anything other than a rich, CIS, white male!

I had had little contact with Americans until I moved to Thailand back in 2015. Over there, there are a surprising number of American retirees who moved there to try to eke out their Social Security pension.

In conversation with the Americans in Thailand, the subject of universal healthcare or the absence thereof in America often came up. Any attempt by me to suggest that American healthcare was utter shit and that just about every other civilised country in the entire world has managed to implement universal healthcare one way or another would elicit an utterly explosive response. Suggesting, as I always did during these conversations, that Bernie Sanders is right and that Medicare needs to be the default healthcare insurance system for every single resident of the USA, seemed to equate to suggesting barbecuing human babies alive for supper!

I found that saying absolutely anything that could be construed as any kind of criticism no matter how mild of the United States of America would elicit a reaction that was totally and completely over the top.

Anyone want a S/H copy of 'The Eagles Gift' by Carlos Castaneda - 2 copies bought by mistake!

@fkamiah17 @FiStitchWitch

Is buying books twice (in my case usually on the same order) symptomatic of any particular sort of cognitive decline?

I have done exactly that twice recently!

The fact that he was is so intellectually underweight that he was unable to grasp the explanations given to him by the scientific advisors must surely weigh heavily against him.

Still, I suppose he could claim that none of the consequences of his decisions were his fault as he was too stupid to grasp the science.

I call my country, the UK, a shithole but I have never heard an American call their country that - I'm warming to you already!

@LALegault

I have family over in Toronto (probably). One of my mother's brothers emigrated to Canada settled in Toronto and became an instructor at a technical college. He had kids but when my mother died, I lost touch with the whole family.

@Lazarou
The fact that politicians are still going on about "Brexit" and BBC news website has a whole "Brexit" category of news is a clear signal that something is badly wrong with the whole project.

If it had been a sensible idea, the UK would have been outside the EU for 4 years now. The "exit" would be over, and being outside the EU would be the new normal, not an ongoing emergency that still needs a name and whole political parties centred around it.

@beemoh @fkamiah17 @harriettmb

If you have a brain then vote tactically as it's difficult to see how any Labour government could possibly be worse than the tory criminals we have at present!

If, on the other hand you are a brainless moron, then vote for whoever the hell you like!

Someday people will be absolutely fucking marveling at all the opportunities there were to stop Trump from getting on the ballot—legitimate reasons—and yet judges were too afraid to do it. Acting like things are normal while we slow motion slide into fascism. It’s bizarre as hell. Like does no one remember their history teacher saying that authoritarians are always elected and then there’s no more elections? What has the fucking point of teaching about fascism been?!? This is nuts
