🇫🇷 London has lost the crown of biggest European stock market to Paris.
🇬🇧 It’s another symbolic sign of Britain’s shrinking place in the wake of Brexit, and the continental rivals that will step into position.

It may be a bit spooky (and possibly weird) to stand in a pitch dark and freezing graveyard but sometines it's worth it.
Michael Fabricant claimed £1,334
Suella Braverman claimed £2,684
Lucy Allan claimed £4,552
Matt Hancock claimed £4,800
Just 4 of the 316 MPs that claimed utility bill expenses on their 2nd homes.

Remember, this country is drowning in sewage , not immigrants, as the Tories would have you believe.

Trumps are little more than a thuggish mafia clan who can only survive by threats of violence.
America needs to get rid.
the argument against PR is that it would fill the HoC with small party's and there would be no proper majority. WRONG - they would have to learn to compromise and work together, extremists would have to explain their position in the cold light of Democracy.
The status quo isn't working and the two main party's are loath to let go of their privilege so it's up to the people to force a change and the quicker the better.
The only nations in Europe with FPTP are the UK and Belarus,

Brexit: Here's THE catalogue of damage
Can I introduce you all to the Davis Downside Dossier (DDD) - maintained by @YorkshireBylines...
In 2016, David Davis infamously said there'd be "no downside to Brexit at all, and considerable upsides”.
So the team at Yorkshire #Bylines has kept all the receipts of #Brexit downsides - each item hyperlinked to a press article on an aspect of damage. Currently standing at >800 downsides, it's a rolling tally.
Peruse the DDD here --> https://yorkshirebylines.co.uk/regular-features/the-davis-downside-dossier/
Brexit making us poorer
As they shake their heads woefully at the economic hellscape, wringing their hands and telling us they have no choice but to make us all pay in our public services and our taxes….
Can we bear these numbers in mind and never let them forget how catastrophically they’ve failed us?
(Private Eye)
(And of course, we’ve lost far more than just money….)
I imagine one of the reasons people cling to their hates so stubbornly is because they sense, once hate is gone, they will be forced to deal with pain. - James A. Baldwin #quote
Precedents like the German government running a Mastodon server are important beyond the obvious reasons. They reinforce the urgency of serious public funding for open code.
If we treated open code as part of the essential infrastructure of the 21st century and funded it at billions of USD/EUR as opposed to tiny grants here and there, the "fediverse" model of interconnected, self-governing communities would become the norm, not the exception.

If you run a Windows 10 machine and look on your taskbar at the bottom of the screen there will be a little icon usually showing the weather and the temperature. If you click on that icon, it takes you to a Microsoft news page where you will find links to news items from it seems mainly extreme right wing adult comics like the Daily Mail, the Daily Express and, strangely, the Hindustan Times. This latter publication, for some reason, favours the Russians volubly in their genocide against Ukraine; indulging in school playground verbiage to cheer on the Russians at each of their imaginary victories.
I find this very difficult indeed to understand as the Hindustan Times, whilst hardly a highly respected publication internationally, is nevertheless a national newspaper of some note in India.
If you've noticed your Home timeline here is pretty quiet it's because at the other place you were constantly hit with 'here's a tweet someone you follow has Liked', or 'here's another from someone you don't follow but someone you follow follows them!', or just general spam. So your timeline was constantly full of things you really didn't want to see and hardly any content you actually cared about.
In this place you only see posts from those you follow, so remember to boost the good stuff!

For anyone who is interested, my header photo is of the most stupendous sunset I have ever seen. On the right is the waterfront of Vientiane, the capital of Laos, on the left is Thailand and in the middle, acting as the border between the two countries is the mighty Mekong river.
