Two million French folk take to the streets in a wave of strikes and protests against a proposal to raise the pension age from 62 to 64.

Meanwhile in the UK: "Mustn't grumble. When's 'Strictly' on?"

Whoever said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, has obviously never had to reboot Windows.

⚠️ Rees-Mogg ⚠️

This is a very good piece on the abomination that is Rees-Mogg. The ‘man’ is not really an adult. He’s been limited by his own pathetic prejudices and, as Will Self says of him and his fellow extremists…
“All the hard-line Brexiters seem to have this mushy core of juvenile chauvinism, one that metastasises into their cancerous patriotism”.

The daughter of a friend of mine at age about nine I think was outstandingly good at French so much so that she was sent to a senior school for advanced French classes.
Having been told this, and being able to speak French pretty fluently, I tried speaking to her in French. A look of panic appeared on her face, and she shouted to her mother “mum, Paul’s talking funny!”
I subsequently learnt to my utter horror, that at the school she attended, only written French was taught not spoken French. She was learning a foreign language, but she had absolutely no idea whatsoever what it sounded like.
To me, that is complete insanity. What on earth is the point of teaching a foreign language as an academic written subject when what the pupils will be needing to do is to express themselves verbally in that language and to understand what people are saying to them in that language.
The British educational system is even worse than I thought it was!

Well, you learn something new every day:

allegedly, the dildo was invented before the wheel. Who would have thought!

Danny Kruger proudly tweeted this then deleted it as it breaks House of Commons rules as it shows the commons chambers and apparently that's a BIG NO NO...I've accidentally tweeted it again so please don't RETWEET it as it will get him into trouble with his "Sargeant at Arms"

Can anyone tell what the difference is between following someone and subscribing to them and how you subscribe?

The resignation of Jacinda Arden is a terrible blow to democracy and good governance.

She showed the world the way a country should be run!

@Conservatives We don't want growth. We want fair wages and equality, integrity in public life and climate action, including green energy and insulation. Deliver those, if you want us to be impressed.

But you can't, can you? Because you are paid to do the opposite on every one of these things.

Yesterday I was part of a group that peacefully protested the expansion of a coal mine in Germany. We were kettled by police and then detained but were let go later that evening.

Climate protection is not a crime.

They'd hate it for you to RT

The leader of Scientology is being sued for child trafficking and exploitation. Feels like this should be a bigger story.

If the head of your religion is on the run from law enforcement, maybe you’re in a cult.

This photograph shows the bow of a yacht in Girvan harbour with symmetrical reflection on the river. The addition of the reflection from the Girvan lifeboat in the background gives a patchwork quality to the image.

Tech is the funniest industry and it always will be.

It's a bunch of people who think they are creatures of pure logic, but every problem they try to solve turns out to be a human problem that is inherently illogical.

The results are endlessly hysterical.

This is fascinating! The Braille Institute has developed a font - free to download - that's designed to be clearer for readers with lower vision.

An example of one of the aspects of low legibility that they tackled attached.

It's named Atkinson Hyperlegible. Atkinson was the Institute's founder - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._Rober

Here's where you can read about the font and download it: brailleinstitute.org/freefont
