The answer is that $55 million USD could (just about) fund a CubeSat!

This is the cost cap for NASA's SIMPLEX program (below Discovery and New Frontiers competitive mission lines). Notably, the cost cap is thought to be pretty low and difficult to manage, with recommendations proposing a raise to ~$80 million.

Take a step back and ask yourself: what is the missing causal link between 1) the Biden administration doing everything right and 2) a political shitstorm happening regardless?

It's the media. The ghost haunting the story. The invisible presence.

Changes are emerging across the climate system. Everywhere we look, the climate is changing rapidly.
Rate of recent changes is unprecedented in at least 2000 years for many climate metrics.
These changes are not natural; they are primarily caused by the burning of fossil fuels.

Some #bird excitement in my yard today: a White-throated Sparrow (rare on the west coast).

They can't determine who leaked an opinion from #scotus, and yet we are supposed to feel confident in these justices' decision making skills? About my body? And my daughter's? About our voting rights? Come on. And we know if they actually started an investigation with #Alito and ended it on #GinnyThomas, they would likely discover who leaked the bs #Dobbs opinion that killed stare decisis and tried to infringe on my daughter's reproductive rights. Glad I live in #Michigan at least.

If you don't think that the virulent and open racism that’s always been prevalent in this country is present and continuing today, then you are either not paying attention or are unwilling spend any time thinking critically about things that happen all around you.

Think if you want that it’s limited to Florida and that DeSantis has no national appeal, but it’s not just going on in Florida. It’s part of the Republican plan.

Ron DeSantis is pushing education in Florida much further right-

Well, not that anyone will likely give a care, but I'm unfollowing accounts that routinely link to twitter, or identical post here with twitter references as if I'm on twitter.

I hate twitter's ownership and refuse to support it. Really wish everyone would just bite the bullet and move on from it. It's awful.

SHOCKING: Ron #DeSantis has BANNED the teaching of AP African American Studies in Florida.

Florida has gone from Don’t Say Gay to Don’t Say Black.

I thought this was withering sarcasm until I checked the user name lol

Why has audio lagged behind image and text based AI?

I know AI is evil, but I want to hear Eddie Van Halen jamming with Louis Armstrong.

Just a reminder that yesterday four Republicans in the West Virginia legislature introduced a bill that would make being openly trans in the presence of a minor child a felony punished by five years in prison.

There are 10 phases to a genocide. This puts the US at phase 6.

To quote myself "it's almost like burning fossil fuels inside your living space is a bad idea or something"

Elites at the World Economic Forum are doing everything they can to protect themselves from #COVID, because the ruling class know the pandemic is not over.

Meanwhile, they are pushing the rest of us back into unsafe workplaces to protect their profits. This is class warfare.

One day after quoting MLK on MLK Day, Florida MAGA Gov Ron DeSantis cancels AP African American Studies Program, saying it ‘Lacks Educational Value’

This is literally white supremacist talking points & a reminder how much these people still hate MLK today

Little known fact: It’s called a “cat 3” storm because the damage is equivalent to the work done by 3 cats left alone for 1 hour.

"Failure of Linux" is exactly what happens when a tech narrative takes over -- actual facts be damned.

Linux is the most popular OS today -- and there's nothing close.

"But what about desktop Linux?" is always the rejoinder.

Why is desktop so important when desktops aren't even our primary devices anymore -- some of us only use smartphones?

But okay. Microsoft bundles Linux with Windows -- therefore desktop Linux has happened.

Can we all go home now?

Nope, this will have to be a thread 🧵
