White folks think politics and ideologies are just a difference of opinion. That's that privilege right there for you. Yalls political viewpoints endanger us. Yall vote on our downfall. NO WE CANT GET ALONG. https://twitter.com/scgeorgiaboy/status/1600324178674012162
Our friends at @humrespro suggest that their community read these four "fundamental texts of progressive pedagogy" to understand their philosophy.
These are great recommendations that also help understand our philosophy at Stimpunks.

US: 32% of Black adults worry every day or almost every day that they might be threatened or attacked because of their race or ethnicity. So do 21% of Asian adults and 14% of Hispanic adults. Many have made changes in their daily schedule.

KIPP & Oppressive Schooling: "We need to reassess the way we measure school quality, taking into account the way that schools treat their students. Charter networks that abuse the psyches of their BIPOC students should not be held up as 'high performing.'"

1. Supermarket prices are up 13% in the last year and profits are at record highs
There isn't much competition to keep prices in check
Now, the nation's largest supermarket chain (@Kroger@twitter.com) wants to buy the 2nd-largest (@Albertsons@twitter.com)
What could go wrong?

@britter @alasdairroberts I appreciate this point and the other aspect of this as to how instructors present/teach/use tech tools. There are many things we can do with a hammer, it can be a weapon, a paper weight, or a building tool.
@alasdairroberts in my work with teachers and future teachers I consistently see the functionality of tech tools taken up very quickly and relatively easily. The rub is in how tech tools are used and developing practices that use tech tools in principled ways.
Women of color have to deal with pejorative stereotypes, including "docility & model minority myths for Asian women; the angry Black woman trope attached to Black women; & the oppressive, 'in need of rescuing' labels imposed on Muslim women."

"Universally, women, especially women of color, have experienced deep-rooted systemic challenges that have hindered our career success. The system imposes many barriers on us and should better support our advancement by design."
Engaging in deep curriculum design serves as a reminder of a few things for me
1) Curriculum design needs to take place with a team of dedicated improvement focused educators.
2) It takes a lot of time, planning, reflecting, testing, reflecting, and revising.
3) Curriculum is never perfect or quite 100% complete.
Feel very fortunate to have an incredible instructor team, wish we had more time.

@humrespro this is such an important fundamental piece of ungrading (which can have multiple definitions and be a little amorphous). Fundamentally, ungrading is a shift to focus on learning and recognizing that grading and learning serve different goals. #ungrading #edutooter
#EmergingResearchers Emily Dowdeswell and Katherine Langford took at why Physics is seen to be a 'difficult' subject and whether teachers need to make it 'fun' for students to learn effectively. #EERAblog #EdChat https://blog.eera-ecer.de/tricky-physics-whats-fun-got-to-do-with-it/

Republicans are against being "woke"
But what does "woke" mean?
Ryan Newman, Ron DeSantis’ General Counsel, defined it in court last week.
Woke is "the belief there are systemic injustices in American society and the need to address them," Newman says.

@aus_teach @edutooters if we look at public education from a system and design perspective we should recognize that the system is not broken at all, but functioning exactly as intended. This is why we see highly professionalized teaching in some countries and a system designed to exploit and maintain settled hierarchies in the US.
I would challenge anyone looking at the US education system as "broken" to consider what the persistent underfunding, segregation, and deprofessionalization of teaching should inevitably lead to.
@juddlegum I remember when Pearl Jam tried to break the Ticketmaster monopoly in the 90's and failed. I hope this bunch has better luck, because those service fees are outrageous.
