I have a gf. We live together, she is very good at both rational thought and emotion. I am good at rational thought - i think.

You do not need to explain why you are having a hard time with emotion. You merely state it, and anyone who is not an asshole will do their best to adapt. That is how we do it, and it works.

Plain and simple. You do your part and put effort into it, then that is good and enough.

@admitsWrongIfProven To be clear, my diagnosis wasn't some big moment or anything, for me it was more of an "ah ha" moment where it kinda just clicked for me
A story from my parents is that I never cried once until I was 6 months of age, when I observed another child doing it first and had to give it a few attempts to get it right
I never even cried during birth

But generally, all i ever saw about autists is just "respect the person, don't be an ass".

Do not disturb while they are working? I don't need to be an autist to get that kind of respect. Treat me badly in that way and my productivity will be zero, autist or not ^^

I have had some bouts, and people have labelled me insensitive. I still think "autism" is just a description of human nature, "more extreme" in some cases. What is even the question, people should put in some effort to get along, and what problems we have is rich assholes taking it all for themselfs.
