@Hyolobrika Hey, i backed off a bit because i thought your foot was surely a more pressing concern, but i am still interested in what made you think covid vaxines are bad.

So, when you have the time and energy, i would be very interested in hearing about that. Was it from one news outlet, many different, word of mouth or mastodon posts? What are the basic points about this?

It was all of those. News outlets and internet posts.

Lee Fang reports on stuff like that a lot. You may have heard of the famous Truth Cops article he co-authored. Here‘s another sample more relevant to my country.

It basically seemed like powerful people would stop at nothing to get us to take the jab, and that felt suspicious.
Maybe I was being irrational. Idk.

@Hyolobrika Well it is understandable to shy away from things that get pushed onto you.

Over the time since covid hit, i saw many articles that very closely reported on scientific studies and saw many doctors cited. The overwhelming majority of that was positive towards the vaccines (not saying they make you immune, but that they greatly enhance your chances of getting through an infection without lasting effects).

Some few negative voices, without fail in a tone that raised red flags with me.

So did you get any such things, directly on the vaccines? After all, that's the main point, are they good or not. The scepticism about any gouvernment issued info we share anyway.

@Hyolobrika Hmm. The intercept article generally says "gouvernment lies", which is something i agree on. No clear direction on what the lies are on the topic, *shrug*

That lee fellow... sounds fishy. When i opened the page, i was greeted by an oxymoron: "far left billionaires". Nothing that is in any remotely reasonably way left would allow billionaires to exist...

The specific article from lee fang you linked seems ok enough, but does not make any point that would discredit covid vaxines.

So i'm with you on the scepticism towards gouvernment action/proclamations, but i still wonder about the specific conclusion. After all, if someone lies, that does not make the opposite they say true...

I see you made another answer, will continue there.

I think I felt like since I wasn't a medical expert, I had to rely on considerations like the conduct of the people behind it. Whether they were trustworthy or not.

@Hyolobrika A reasonable point, but i still wonder if no news that are close to studies or cite experienced doctors made theirr way to you?

@Hyolobrika I gotta check myself here, maybe you can help:
My main goal right now would be listening and understanding, but i see that i am explaining my position a lot. Should that in any way make you feel like you can't explain yours, please let me know so i can reign myself in.

As for "far left billionaires", I think he means the social left/"liberals"/progressives.

@Hyolobrika And i generally think such a thing is a fantasy. I would not trust someone who owns a billion or more - out of the simple consideration that amassing such wealth makes clear that any contact to the reality of normal people or empathy for them must have been lost.

A big problem, especially looking at the US, is position politics. Put people into camps, say the other camp is like this and that, without considering the actual topic of discussions. It gets worse here, too.
This is a prime example of position instead of content - group someone without ethics into the "enemy" camp.

As a result, people that believe this sound unconvincing to me.

Add to that that no actual medical studies are cited, and you got my point.
