yeah, other problems like plastic and toxic waste are often completely ignored.
i think this focus on things everyone needs - food, heat and short-distance private transportation - is misguided at best and evil at worst.
there are many other things one could point to, which aren't touched, like subsidized kerosene. people trying to police my food and car who themselves fly around the globe all the time like greta and the cop27 gang are a dime a dozen. why are there still cruises across the ocean?
that these bullshit vacations are still allowed while cars and food are policed feels like a dystopian novel where usually everything is verboten but once a year you go on vacation and indulge in all these things.
@squell it's no turf war, it's a war of policing speech and giving away decisions to higher powers. on qoto and many others you have to block things yourself. some people hate this idea and exclude e.g. qoto for not having a massive instance wide blocklist of "dangerous" servers.
it's not a turf war, it's a war of how you want to live your online live.

Import soy and corn driven is a carbon source and thus unsustainable. Top soil over there gone - inputs gone.

Most entomologists refer to bees as vegetarian wasps, as bees evolved from carnivorous wasps about 120 million years ago.
But did you know that there exist species of Vegetarian Wasps called Pollen Wasps - Pic 1 (Wikipedia), and Carnivorous Bees called Carrion Bees - Pic 2 (Ricardo Ayala)?
The wasps don't have pollen carrying hairs so they eat the pollen and regurgitate it at the nest.
The bees have special gut bacteria to digest meat.

also the machine learning is always an approximation with _unknown uncertainty_. with other stochastic or heuristic algorithms or you could at least give an uncertainty value. here it's usually just "trust the machine". fine with enhancing images, not the thing i'd trust my life with or base decisions on.
