Everytime I have to do something on my computer and I figure out how it works, then find out that Slackware just makes things damn easy I sit back and say to myself,

"Hot damn, I friggin' love Slackware!"

Should Political Cartoonists Ever Self-Censor?

From Islam to gender identity, it turns out some topics are off-limits for political cartoonists. Last year, The Morning Star’s @ArtistBristol was cancelled for one of her own cartoons. Now, she’s questioning the entire culture of self-censorship in media, and who satirists are allowed to criticize.

Here is my own contribution to the #RMS debate, about the open letter and #fsf and so on.

Comment on the open letter to "remove RMS", based on the GNU Kind Communications Guidelines

This is not another escalation, it's something else. It's about how we communicate. I thought a lot about it. Hopefully this can reach some of the people who signed the open letter.

Boosts welcome.

Would you imagine in 2019 that we will have to deal with such fucking Chinese-totalitarian ideas here in the EU?

And no, the fact that you have to vaccinate is not a problem. The problem is the centralized system of such sensitive data and the social credit style surveillance that comes with it.

And really, if you think that such surveillance is good, because of safety – you are a virus much more dangerous than SARS-CoV-2 – the virus on human privacy and human dignity.

tinfoil?

i watched a michael yeadon interview. i don't get how the guy get's called anti vaxxer. in the interview he points out that

a) we should test new technologies thoroughly before we roll them out
b) vaccinating non-risk groups while the vaccines aren't really tested for long term effects is a bad tradeoff
c) the electronic vaccine passports are a bad idea for societies
d) the "classic" vaccines (dead pathogens) are proven and good technology

the part where he talks about the "topping up" vaccines maybe getting misused in the future sure _feels_ tinfoily. this doesn't make his other statements false though.

sidenote: it's kind of unsettling that i have to go to non-mainstream video platforms to watch it.

you know what grinds my gears: fucking plastics in nature. fucking everywhere. no escape.

at least TIL that polystyrol degrades to styrol under UV light.

"Installation: we recommend that you use Docker."

what I'm supposed to see: "hey, it's a simple one-liner! Such clean install, much wow."

what I actually see: "we couldn't figure out how to install this thing on anything but our own machine, but hey, here is a well-compressed image of our entire disk, use this instead so that we can stop trying"

@lupyuen fyi, the rss feed you gave me some time ago has stopped announcing your new articles. it's not a big problem for me, i see your posts here. just wanted to drop a note :)

ffs, it's really hard to get rid of spam from fsfe. they seem to need the money, just too bad that my money now goes to the real fsf :>
