@p You are correct in that the people in question cannot ever be appeased. That is not the goal.

The goal is to demonstrate to others that they cannot ever be appeased. Others agree to appease them in the hopes that they will eventually be happy and quiet down so that people who actually do the work, can get work done.

Of course, another goal with as:Public in particular (esp in regards to things like branding it like smat-whatever) is to demonstrate that the people in question are 1000% in favor of surveillance, parmanent archives, overall privacy invasions and all the rest, as long as its in furtherance of their own goals. Just look at all the tools they use on little old me, *literally while* decrying me making such tools.
