Thinking about the adaptability of #trees today. How ancient junipers like these have flowed so differently in their centuries of growth because of pressures faced long ago, from lightning strikes and buckling winds to storms lifting them partially out of the earth. The resilience needed to remake the arrangement, counterbalancing a suddenly altered centre of gravity or reshooting from a shattered, fire-scorched crown. The stories of endurance held by the heartwood.
I really like the favorite/boost/bookmark distinctions. I also like the fact that here you have to go back to the original post to talk--my brain says lovechild of Twitter and Pillowfort. Also, accountability, woohoo!
So. In my view.
Favorite: HEY YOU this was a COOL THING.
Boost: HEY EVERYONE this was a COOL THING.
Bookmark: HEY ME don't forget about this COOL THING.
Reply: OMG WHAT A COOL THING can we TALK about it?
@ianbetteridge what if you lost your grandparents to the horror and don't need or want reminders? That seems a genuine reason to want a wrapper? Not that I'm saying they should be *made* to do anything - individual choice and all that - but I'm not convinced by the "either way you're a Nazi" arguement either I'm afraid.
My dog requires me to ask "Was it nice?" after every meal. If I don't she just stands there staring at me like I am neglecting her. After a bit of fuss has been made, confirming that the meal was indeed nice, she goes off for a lie down.

alpha males
That post I just boosted doesn't seem to have Alt Text or description, sorry. Here's the original content from Twitter, that the boost was a screenshot of. And I apologise for the tortuous grammer just there! 😂
Anyway...
@henriksen
When men refer to themselves as "alpha males", I hear that in the context of software, where alpha versions are unstable, missing important features, filled with flaws, and not fit for the public.
This picture from my Flickr albums is of a damselfly that visited my small pond this summer. The pond is simply an old kitchen sink that I put in the ground in summer 2021. I bought three plants for it and waited for nature to arrive. It didn't take long. This year I even saw a newt tadpole.

@DavidPNoble63 keepng both until there's enough of over there, over here and I don't feel I'm missing anything important. If that never happens and Twitter continues I'll stay on both.
Another non-bird post today! Visiting these Australian Sea Lions was an incredible experience - they have such a powerful presence! Taken in April on a guided tour at Seal Bay, Kangaroo Island, South Australia

@Audr3y @freemo @georgetakei thank you, I will deffo have a read of that
I often tell people how clumsy I can be and I'm not sure they always believe me. Are you sitting comfortably?
Pottered into the kitchen in my PJs. Awake early as I tend to be thanks to my work-bodyclock, so it's about 05:15 and I'm a tad bleary. What's needed here is coffee.
Boil the kettle and pour water into my favourite cup to warm. Grind beans. Fill coffee-maker filter holder and fit to machine. Notice water is low in the tank. Fill a tall cup with water and pour into machine.
Go to put tall cup on counter next to warming coffee cup. Somehow manage to let go of cup too soon which slips towards hot cup and knocks it heavily towards... me.
Freshly boiled water shoots out of small cup and lands on left boob. Thin PJ t-shirt offers approximately no protection but does cling nicely to skin.
Screech, grab shirt and pull away from stinging tit.
Go to bathroom, remove shirt and replace with something dry and soft that won't hurt boiled nipple.
Return to kitchen, check cup - miraculously unharmed - continue making coffee. Stagger back to bed.
Breakfast later should be an adventure.
Sweary and opinionated. It's best not to take it personally. Also hilarious but that might be less obvious.
