And, I just realized that 'first world problems' for some of us might be an opportunity to bless others.
Like probably many of you, my wife and I had to get 'new' cellphones when our carrier switched to 5G. Perfectly good phones, that weren't able to 'register' on the 5G network (no voice over IP capability). Now, expensive junk...
But, even sans SIM card, they can connect to WiFi hotspots just fine. They have a decent amount of memory, and could be wiped and have library apps like Libby installed - and even message apps like WhatsApp, etc. - all w/o a cell phone bill.
I need to check this out, but maybe I can donate a phone to our local library, have them pair it with a library card for someone, and give them access to books and other things.
If someone else wants to try this, please do!

I just read that Frank Pavone, a prominent (former?) cleric in the so-called “pro-life” movement has been relieved of his priestly faculties. The global #Catholic television network legitimized him early on. For decades many dioceses in the US sent vulnerable women to programs run by him. They should have defrocked a long time ago. I wrote about him on Indie Theology almost 3 years ago.

I've been on Mastodon for about a month. I'm following about 15% as many people as I did on Twitter and I have just a little under 10% of the numbers of followers than I did on Twitter, but engagement here is about the same and the replies are much less likely to be spammy, abusive, and/or deranged.

Many are saying Mastodon reminds them of the early days of social media. It's true. My feed is filled with cat photos. Take away the capitalist profit-motivated algorithms and the cats emerge once again to lead us.
