In regards to our scientific career, we are finishing up an M.Sc. in Energy Technology, with the intent to delve deeper into topics related to #nuclear powerplant design.

Currently, we are pursuing an internship at the #wendelstein #fusion experiment, where we are developing a fast power loss detection system of the ECRH-Heating of the plasma!

After that, we have a Technical Studentship at #cern planned, where we will get the chance to work on the Magnetic Protection system for the #HighLuminosity upgrade.

M51, the Whirlpool galaxy, seen through my eVscope. This is a classic target for amateur astronomers, but always a pleasure to get such shots.

A dark sky and a long exposure gave me this clear result: detailed spiral arms + clean 'bridge' between M51 & its companion

Ok, [my] newbie mistake.
I had signed up for 2 dif servers / instances at the (#Fediverse) #mastodon create-yr-account landing page.
But once you establish account(s) w/ a specific server, you have to go to the instances’ sign-in page to get the desktop/browser GUI.
The mobile apps do this differently bc they ask for yr server info when signing in. Duh !

For some reason I thought sign-in was centralized, but it’s not. That makes sense.

I confess I'm not clear how to operate here if literally every mention of politics requires a content warning. This is an existing community with its own mores which I totally respect. So I want to be clear I'm not saying there's a problem with that or that it should change. But hard to know precisely how to operate in that mode if that's a lot of what you talk about.

Seems that federated social networks like Mastodon offer an opportunity for people to curate & nurture micro-communities vs. optimizing to “be social” with the masses. It’s certainly a different mindset than other major social networks, where collecting followers, likes & other forms of engagement are promoted. If there’s a #Twexit, I anticipate growing pains as many will naturally assume that <this new thing> should work like <that other thing>

The death of Wynn Alan Bruce as something of a call-to-arms for me as someone who's been studying/practicing Buddhism for around 12 years. This summer I started experimenting with conceptual art around my feelings of being an unconventional #buddhist, or a "Buddhist in the Dharma-Ending Age." This was about the time I learned about Wrathful Buddhas and accumulated Boddhichitta, which let me leave behind some of the trauma and dissociation I'd suffered through for most of my life and start living in the material reality of my body again.

I have since been trying to recreate similar images with newer versions of #midjourney but have not yet been able to create anything nearly as compelling as this original #aiart series.

As a Buddhist #Celtic #pagan #witch who incorporates technomancy and #TechnoPagan elements into my craft, my online cult of extremist, armed radical Buddhists helped me grow the courage to face the new unfolding challenges of our post-pandemic world and discover hope, the willingness to act, and how to find and build community in this increasingly difficult and bleak age. The contrast between the complacent Buddhist who strives for non-action and the extremist Buddhist who acts from radical compassion represent aspects of an inner alchemy I have endured along my personal spiritual path.

I am so happy to be here.
