Saw an article titled "Twitter rival Mastodon -- What you should know"

I thoroughly cracked up.

I don't want a twitter alternative. I want back all the personal blogs, link collections, IRC chat rooms, knowledgeable and technically inclined youths, piracy, social subversion, etc...

Why would anyone want what Twitter had?

I want a community. Not a platform.

We're still in a pandemic. Wear a mask and get boosted. In that order, if we're being honest.

Scam Alert!

If you receive an email or response on Mastodon like the following, DO NOT click the link. It is a scam fishing for login details at the very least.

"Mastodon has detected botting malware on your PC that is congesting the Mastodon network. All affected accounts will be suspended within 24 hours unless removed. _https://REDACTEDLINK"

The lit part shows mainly the far side, including multi-ringed Mare Orientale, one of the most striking large-scale lunar features. Until 60 years ago, no human eye could ever enjoy such a view.

The "crypto" corruption exemplified by FTX and SBF goes way beyond these slimy folks, as @doctorow@twitter.com notes. They had willing co-conspirators in government, finance, philanthropy, and media. We are in real trouble, and we'd better start caring. https://pluralistic.net/2022/11/23/incentives-matter/

Reminder that leaving some fallen leaves in your yard can provide bug habitat that birds use for important nutrition.

This Blue Jay was foraging in our leaves tonight and is about to enjoy a tasty bug snack.
