Hello world (and universe)! I'm a #space journalist from #Canada who writes about #spaceflight, #rockets, #astronomy, #StarTrek, #NASA and whatever else is trending that day.

I recently got to talk to an #astronaut about cosplay, of all things. That was unexpected. https://www.space.com/european-female-space-station-commander-2001-cosplay

My favourite stories cover #diversity, #stem and other ways to make our universe a little bit more inclusive.

I am blundering about here on Mastodon as a beginner ... but believe in showing others that learning and growing at any age is a good thing. :)

In my spare time I enjoy #archaeology #history #libraries #gaming ... and I'm also a beginner #python coder, because why not.

Drop by and say hi!

Fortunate to be off this Thanksgiving but have spent many working in the ER over the decades. Will go in tomorrow morning and on Sunday for two 24 shifts on the holiday weekend.

Hallo liebe Community! Weisst jemand von euch etwas über "American Academy in Vienna"? Google is not on my side on this one

Any #TheWestWing people or fans on here? :)

About 22 years after the incredible #Thanksgiving #turkeys episode I finally worked in a timely reference in one of my #space stories. (Long live Eric and Troy!)

There's even a #NASA joke. (Not mine.)

This is a photos of Kitekite Falls, near Piha, Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa (Auckland, New Zealand).

This is a small waterfall along the Hillary Trail in the Waitakere Ranges outside the city. The area has been under a rahui (or off limits) for a few years due to a deadly pathogen for the Kauri trees native to the country. The area is now beginning to re-open with safeguards against the spread of Kauri Dieback.

Now we (in the USA) can report the results of our at-home COVID test, in the hopes that they can more accurate track cases.

Judges and legislators literally just made up the silly separation between porn and art because they simply don't want to respect and protect porn artists as the artists they are. Because they largely despise sex workers. It's a purity culture thing and even more a class thing, nothing else.

Electronic mail is so confusing. Why do I need to choose a provider and how do I get even decide? And once I have an address, how do I find my friends’ addresses and send them letters? Will I only be able to send letters to people using the same provider?
