Yay, just had a great talk with the curator for the galleries at Stone Valley Arts in Poultney Vermont. Going to have a show there in late summer. I'm excited about it given the context of the show and where I can go with the theme.

Here’s the final version of this lovely translucent Porcelain Fungus from last autumn - I’m just getting this one printed. This was taken near Bagley Combe, Exmoor. #Exmoor #ExmoorNationalPark #fungus #porcelainfungus #BagleyCombe #photography #naturephotography

#introduction Well, this kinda sucks. The admin on my former instance bailed on it without warning and now I'm starting over. I'm politically liberal with a lot of pragmatism in what policies can be passed in Congress although I'm internally very idealistic. My interests include: climate, science, sports, tech, and space. Obama is my President.

A pot heated to 1000 degrees. Raku can be a very volatile process, but I think the results are worth it!

Go left? Go right? That was the question when I encountered this sign while #snowshoeing last week in the White #Mountains, NH. I chose the ridgeline route to the left, involving only moderately steep terrain, avoiding the steep (class 3) terrain to the right which requires use of crampons and ice ax. While very picturesque, it was still a workout, climbing 1,500’ in snowshoes. #FingerPostFriday #hiking #snow #ice #nature #landscape #photography #LandscapePhotography #trees #outside #exercise

#Orienteering was very popular in the 1970s and almost every University was active.
As for the spelling - did they run out of room?

In #JapaneseFolklore wani are sea dragons who rule the oceans. These gods of the sea live in coral palaces on the ocean floor. The most well-known dragon king in Japan is Ryujin who controls the tides using two magical jewels. Wani can also shapeshift into humans. In one tale Toyotama hime (daughter of the Dragon King Owatatsumi) married Hoori (grandson of Amaterasu). Their grandson was Jimmu, who became the first emperor of Japan.

Snow is nearly gone again... Looking out over the Sound of Sleat from Isleornsay on Skye

My series "Raindrop Blues" tries to dip the viewer in a sort of dreamlike reality. The rain seems to fall on everyone, creating evocative images where every element – the street, the sky, the characters, the viewer – is involved in a romantic and, in the same time, melancholic feeling. Many subjects appear as dark silhouettes or have their faces hidden by umbrellas. Along with the raindrops and dark colors, evoke a sense of human isolation, a common feeling in large cities

Fascinating. It's been a LONG time since I recall schools in #Vermont being closed on account of *cold*. 🥶 Snow or ice storms? Yes. But cold? It's been a while.

BUT... where we live in northwest VT, the forecast is for -3 F (-19 C) as the *high* tomorrow.

Much of the day is forecast to be -6 F (-21 C) ... and... the windchill is forecast to be -29 F (-34 C)!!!

🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶

So yeah, I can understand why schools are closing!

And the list keeps growing:

You know it’s going to be cold when #Vermont public schools cancel due to a forecast. No school tomorrow for the kids. #Brrr….

Early morning trips to Abraham Lake are always fun!! In the winter finding the frozen methane bubbles is cool & when I found a place to see the from the side view it was super cool!! #explore #abrahamlake #alberta #canada #winter #photography #hike #iphonephoto #canon #roadtrip #yeg #yyc

We're facing a terrible wave of Hate and Intolerance here in America; and Book Banning is the latest threat.

DeSantis is leading the charge, but Florida isn't the only state moving in this direction.

19 States have initiated Teaching & Book Bans:

docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d

What can we do?

From Brea Baker:

1. BUY BANNED BOOKS - and actually read them.

2. If you live in a state that's banning books, call your local and statewide elected officials.

3, Sign up for a free Brooklyn Public Library Card.

4. For adults with children; buy them books, talk about difficult subjects with grace and care, and help them to host book clubs with peers.

5. Support programs such as: Books Not Bars, The American Library Association, and Others.

6. Show up at School Board meetings, and run for Local Office positions.

7. Vote in Local Elections, and Support Local and State Candidates for Office.

Stay Informed. Get Involved. Turn Back the Tide.

Vote. Out. Republicans.⚡
