🚨 BIG DATA RELEASE 🚨 We are beyond excited to announce the release of our Brain Wide Map of neural activity during decision making! It consists of 547 Neuropixel recordings of 32784 neurons across 194 regions of the mouse brain 🐭🧠
All these recordings were performed in a distributed fashion in 12 different labs, spanning Europe and the US 🌎 Rigorous standardization of methods and materials allowed us to pool the data from these labs together into a single gigantic dataset 🐙
Mice are performing our standardized perceptual decision-making task in which they have to position a stimulus in the center of a screen to receive reward. The dataset contains the stimuli and decisions, but also videos from three angles and DeepLabCut pose information. We're even releasing all the raw ephys data!
We know, it's a lot. At your own pace you can read all the details about the experimental setup, the task, processing of the data, and much more in the technical paper which accompanies this data release: https://figshare.com/articles/preprint/Data_release_-_Brainwide_map_-_Q4_2022/21400815
To explore the data at your leisure, visit our visualization website where you can scroll through different recording sessions, look at neural activity during example trials, and see trial-based activity of single neurons: https://viz.internationalbrainlab.org
Do you have itchy fingers to run your models on this humongous dataset? We totally get it! Here you can find how to download the data using our API so you can fire up those computing clusters: https://int-brain-lab.github.io/iblenv/notebooks_external/data_release_brainwidemap.html
This was a collective effort of our stellar team, who all put in so much work to make this monumental achievement possible. Our collaboration consists of 22 PIs, 37 researchers, and 11 staff members who all worked tirelessly to bring these data to you, the community 👏🍾
In v4, there is now a profile directory. This is a great feature to discover people on the server!

IL-17D has always been the more obscure member of this #cytokine family. Turns out, like its siblings, it may also contribute to pathological #skin #inflammation. #psoriasis https://www.nature.com/articles/s41590-022-01339-3?utm_source=ni_etoc&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=toc_41590_23_11&utm_content=20221115
#introduction I am a staff scientist at Pasteur Institute in Paris where I study viruses using structural biology approaches, X-ray crystallography and now expanding to cryo-EM. I'm especially curious about the ancient viruses that like to linger and co-evolve with us #herpesviruses #foamyviruses #ERVs, and what we can learn from them in terms of entry mechanisms and origins of the proteins involved in entry. I also like to follow how deep learning methods can help structural biology.
Thank you @gyamey and Abraar Karan. Why Masks Still Matter.

For anyone doing #flowcytometry, would you like to have a new protocol that reduces your #antibody costs by ~10-fold and also gives you higher quality data, with better signal-to-noise ratio?
Yes? Then read work by @olivertburton@twitter.com and @CarlyEWhyte@twitter.com. 1/6

"The Swiss Surrealist sculptor and painter Alberto Giacometti is to have a new museum in a former train station in Paris after fears the world’s largest collection of his work could be moved abroad.
The Giacometti Foundation will take up residence in the former Gare des Invalides, better known in postwar years as the former headquarters of Air France. Its opening is scheduled for 2026."

T cell & antibody responses to #SarsCoV2 vaccination in people living with HIV on ART
#Preprint
"Strikingly, a subset of PLWH with low or absent neutralization had detectable functional T cell responses. These individuals had reduced numbers of circulating T follicular helper cells and an enriched population of CXCR3+CD127+CD8+ T cells after two doses of SARS-CoV-2 vaccination, which may compensate for sub-optimal serological responses in the event of infection."
Animal models for long Covid, review at #PlosPathogens
"We review SARS-CoV-2 infection and disease manifestations in mice, Syrian hamsters, ferrets, and nonhuman primates (NHPs). Specifically, the virology, pathology, immune responses, and multiorgan involvement are summarized. These models are rationally examined for their use in understanding the complexities of the multiorgan involvement during Long COVID and the potential for their use in screening therapeutics such as anti-inflammatory drugs, which are currently used for treating other diseases. The aim of this review is to highlight Long COVID preclinical animal models that could be used for Long COVID research and to screen for pharmacological interventions."

"Big trials are expensive, so you can either avoid diseases with big trials or try to argue for ways to make them smaller (through surrogate endpoints, perhaps, or with fewer arms in the dosing groups). But those shortcuts will invariably give you (and the regulators evaluating your drugs) less useful data to work with"

The research group of Dr Nicholas Pearce is looking to recruit two Postdocs in the field of structural biology/structural bioinformatics at Linköping University, Sweden.
#introduction
Hi, I am working in #immunology in #brazil . Our lab focuses in development of #immunotherapy in #cancer and #viruses, especially #Immunooncology to help bring these therapies to all patients of the public health system.
We are hiring #postdocs and #graduate students.
Also, we always have #chocolate and #coffee in the office; and we are among the friendliest hardworking nerds you wilk EVER meet. Come join us!
I've worked on all of science, from B cells to T cells.
