@PLOSBiology Interesting: "In conclusion, peer review in journals with higher impact factors tends to be more thorough, particularly in addressing study methods while giving relatively less emphasis to presentation or suggesting solutions. Differences were modest and variability high, indicating that the Journal Impact Factor is a bad predictor of the quality of peer review of an individual manuscript." #PeerReview

Excited to be part of the Pueblo Brian Science "Specification of Complex Behaviors" workshop in New Mexico. Curious if people would be interested in toots describing what people are thinking about here?
https://www.pueblobrainscience.org/workshop let me know with a boost or a reply pls.
I expect there will be plenty of insights at the interface of #development #devbio and #neuroscience

“when it comes to redistribution, views about fairness are divided into two: ‘redistribution from’ and ‘redistribution to’… Cavaillé…argues that the way most people think about fairness when thinking about taking away is rather different to fairness when giving to others… attitudes about ‘redistribution from’ tend to go along economic left/right lines, but attitudes about ‘redistribution to’ are more correlated with socially liberal or conservative mindsets.” @sjwrenlewis https://mainlymacro.blogspot.com/2023/08/attitudes-towards-redistribution.html

'Picking out proteins and sending them into the vicious shredder that is the proteasome is a completely new mode of action for drugs, and there are many examples of it leading to effects that you just don't see (can't see!) with traditional small-molecule inhibitors. But as these things get further and further into development, and as more and more effort has been poured into them in both industry and academia, details inevitably emerge that make the whole picture more complicated.'

'Recently Dr. Peter Hotez, a leading vaccine scientist and a frequent target of anti-vaxxer harassment, expressed some puzzlement in a post on X, formerly Twitter. He noted that many of those taunting him were also “big time into bitcoin or cryptocurrency” and declared that “I can’t quite connect the dots on that one.”
OK, I can help with that. Also, welcome to my world.'
