Obituary for Jeffrey Pollard at Nature Cancer
"His landmark discovery in 2001 on the tumor-promoting role of macrophages in breast cancer propelled the cancer research field into studying the pro-tumoral roles of the immune compartment."
@jocelyn_etienne @Rxiv_cytoskeleton I guess one solution is to follow the bot, add it to a list, hide the list from your home feed (now possible in 4.2). At least that way the bot traffic is away from your timeline. There needs to be a way to filter the list for actin though. Don't know if that is possible.
One possibility is to support a #Mastodon feature that would allow #unlisted posts to be present in #hashtag feeds, see https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/23038
For the time being, I see no real solution if you want e.g. to know about new #actin papers but can't parse by yourself all of @Rxiv_cytoskeleton posts...
but we can discuss this, if you have ideas.
'Un estudio publicado recientemente en la revista BMJ Oncology calcula que la incidencia mundial de tumores entre menores de 50 años ha aumentado un 79% en tres décadas. '
'Here, 273 individuals with or without LC were enrolled in a cross-sectional study that included multi-dimensional immune phenotyping and unbiased machine learning methods to identify biological features associated with LC.'

#actin, #actomyosin, #myosin, #microtubule, #kinesin, #intermediatefilament, #vimentin, #keratin, #desmin, #GFAP, #peripherin, #syncoilin, #internexin, #neurofilament, #synemin, #syncoilin, #lamin
are hashtags used by @Rxiv_cytoskeleton bot.
Unfortunately, if you search / follow one of these hashtags, most of the posts from this bot will be invisible because a recent policy makes them "unlisted", see https://botsin.space/@muffinista/110378654504428500

"É para já um projecto-piloto, mas a correr bem poderá vir a ser uma solução para mitigar os efeitos da falta de água na agricultura, em concreto na viticultura, e tornar mais eficiente o uso de um bem tão escasso e precioso."
'These episodes made me experience first-hand a phenomenon that I was becoming increasingly familiar with: the vanishing of confidence in science. It seems almost a paradox: as our societies become more and more dependent on advanced technology based on scientific discoveries, people are becoming more and more suspicious of scientists.'
'Similarly, the poorest communes have generally voted much more for the left, especially in cities. That remains true to the present day. The (often intentional) confusion comes from the fact that commentators tend to associate the working classes only with blue-collar manufacturing workers, forgetting that the average wage of supermarket cashiers, restaurant staff, cleaners, care workers and other service industry employees has fallen below that of manufacturing workers for several decades now.'

'In double-transgenic mice expressing NC-specific Cre and the Cre-driven diphtheria toxin receptor, plasma noradrenaline and adrenaline levels were significantly reduced, as were thymic T cell progenitors'

Interesting to see this reflection from a Nobel prize winner on the distrust of science and the abuse he received when talking about vaccines. Applaud his call for more investment in dialogue with the public. I have to say my experiences particularly since covid have been the level of distrust and anger to science is through the roof and I now regularly receive abuse for talking about vaccines and even Long Covid.
