'Taken together, we report on mRNA vaccines targeting P. vivax and demonstrate that Pvs25 mRNA–LNP outperformed an adjuvanted Pvs25 protein vaccine suggesting that it is a promising candidate for further testing in non-human primates.'

"First, they looked in the genes for clues, and genetic scans showed that inflammation genes were dialled down throughout multiple organs. This was a good lead as inflammation is a risk factor for age-related diseases such as cancer, arthritis and heart disease. To double-check, they took blood samples to look for signs of inflammation; there were fewer pro-inflammatory molecules in the blood of mice with heavy hyaluronan. Finally, they did a third test, by injecting a bacterial protein that causes inflammation and checking how the mice reacted. There was less inflammation in their tissues, and fewer pro-inflammatory chemicals in their blood. This may be naked mole rats’ secret of youth: this thick hyaluronan coating may protect cells from inflammation, so they live longer and avoid disease."

Well, I don't like them. They wet their nests.

"Huxley wrote extensively for popular audiences, frequently appeared on radio and television and even directed an Oscar-winning wildlife film, The Private Life of the Gannets."

"However, the metrics generally used to evaluate protein structure prediction methods—including all of those used in CASP—focus on the overall accuracy of predicted structures, rather than on their utility in predicting ligand binding. This has left the large community of academic and industrial researchers who wish to use protein structures to design drugs and other ligands unsure of whether, when, and how to use the new structural models. Improvements in protein structure prediction are widely assumed to lead to better models of ligand-binding pockets and thus more accurate predictions of ligand binding (Beuming and Sherman, 2012; Bordogna et al., 2011; Erickson et al., 2004), but to what extent do these assumptions hold?"

"Here, by studying 98 tissues from 27 deceased transplant organ donors we demonstrate that despite representing less than 5% of circulating Tregs, fully functional, thymically derived CD8+FOXP3+ Tregs are highly enriched in human tissues particularly in non-lymphoid tissues and bone marrow, where they reside as CD25lo/-CD8+CD69+CD103+TLR9+HELIOS+FOXP3+ Tregs."

"In Ireland, seeking work has often meant moving to England. The early songs of the Pogues documented what awaited there in the early 1980s — a time when it was, to put it mildly, challenging to be Irish in London. Irish people had been portrayed variously as buffoons, insurrectionists and animals in the British media since Victorian times, and ethnic hate and discrimination were prevalent well into the 1980s. The conflation of all Irish with the Irish Republican Army led to miscarriages of justice like the Guildford Four, the Birmingham Six and the Maguire Seven, who were wrongly imprisoned for I.R.A. bombings in the 1970s."

#Introduction

Hello!

I'm a synthetic developmental biologist at The University of Edinburgh.

I'm interested in understanding how cells influence their neighbours in mammalian models of #DevBio and disease.

I use #SynBio to identify neighbours of cells of interest (e.g. healthy neighbours of mutant cells), and to engineer cell behaviour in response to these interactions.

I do this in pluripotent #StemCells and their derivatives.

I look forward to keeping up with everyone's cool research!

"La respuesta oficial ha sido la extorsión descarada a los más pobres: a aquellos que no estén de acuerdo con los cambios y decidan salir a la calle se les amenazó con quitarles la ayuda de la que dependen, en muchos casos, para comer."

“Mortality and hospitalisation rates [for JN. 1] are not the explosive rates we saw during the Delta wave, but we’re definitely seeing an increase,” said Malvestutto. He said a jump in infections was also to be expected with the return of a regular flu season and the ongoing respiratory syncytial virus, or RSV, at a time of year when crowds gather indoors.'

'It involves a debut author with a lot of buzz, lies, clumsy alibis, “review bombing,” a long and sordid confession — and, of course, Goodreads. Because whenever there is a meltdown in publishing, Goodreads, the Amazon-owned site that bills itself as “the largest site for readers and book recommendations,” is reliably at the center of it.'

Great opportunities for software and data science to work at the World Health Organization!

We especially encourage people from underrepresented demographics and backgrounds to apply!
Please do share the information broadly, gladly with support networks and associations.

My team is looking to fill three staff positions based at the WHO Hub for Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence in Berlin, Germany. We support public health intelligence with training, research, and software. 1/
