#pinebookpro arrived! Merry Christmas to me. Now I need to figure out what I bought.
WANTED: MUSICIANS! It's great here (I just tested Post. ugh!). But I need more people on my #musician and #musicProduction list – people in all genres, people and/or companies posting about #instruments #musicStudio #electronicMusic #acousticMusic #classicalMusic #mixing #synth #musicTools and #composing #composer progress.
I find great inspiration in watching other people's work and process.
So please tell me – where do I find YOU? Oh, I know, #cats are popular on Mastodon!
As food supply and #nutrition strategies have changed for #humans, are we still getting all the trace #minerals we need? Sure we got iodine #salt and magnetic corn flakes, but I feel like a little #lithium might go a long way for me. Maybe I need one of those mineral feed trough #buffets they give #livestock. Perfect application for my disused #dabba !!
2005 was the last time I played with a #synth or digital production tools. I was an uncommitted teen, but it was a fun diversion from #music theory and #jazz band. It was not a protected interest, and in college I buried it under fear and greed. I want to fix that. With search engines designed for others’ gain, I don’t know what to trust. Assuming I know nothing, can anyone recommend educational resources for musicians that introduce the basics of modern #synthesizer or #DAW technologies?
#ArtAdventCalendar Day 8.
#ModularSynth patch
I confess, I cheated today. Without a mixer in the patch, all the high frequencies were in my left ear and the bass in my right. When I finished patching last night I lost my balance and nearly fell over. So today I treated my wellbeing to a mixer and used a couple of extra cables to do that.
That being said, I patched in the E352 Cloud Terrarium Oscillator, in cloud and morph mode to add a airy drone to the patch.
No. Don't be hating on beavers. Their dams are carbon sinks. Humans have killed off so many beavers over the last +200 years they really don't know how beavers will affect the environment at scale. https://arstechnica.com/science/2022/12/as-the-arctic-warms-beavers-are-moving-in/?utm_medium=social&utm_brand=ars&utm_source=twitter&utm_social-type=owned
I’m curious if there is an anthropologically-informed “correct” (“healthy”? “Natural”?) number of hours for self-care/grooming. Similar to the ‘8h of sleep’ suggestion. Are we getting enough? What happens when we don’t get enough? How does that information get used? Are we replacing this grooming time with reading our phones? Are we (unintentionally) misusing those signals?
Ancient octopus pots from Minoan Crete. Made about 3,500 years ago. The artists who painted these pots were inspired by #nature and loved what they saw! Look at those faces! 🐙 👀 ❤️
Risks to Mastodon with increasing popularity
Interesting comment on Hackernews regarding a possible scenario/long term risk should Mastodon threaten the corporate sphere of social media.
I wonder how many state secrets have gone through #google translate

Eigg isn't connected to the UK national grid. Instead we generate 90% to 95% of our electricity from wind, sun, & water (hydro). Community-owned Eigg Electric was switched on in 2008. Islanders are trained and employed to manage it. Electricity costs 28p per unit/kWh. Before 2008 each property had its own diesel generator. Now we have 24kW of wind, 110kW of hydro, 170kW of solar PV, storage batteries, and a back up generator. Next challenge is #netzero #renewables #eigg http://isleofeigg.org/eigg-electric/
