Are you in India? PR_END_OF_FILE error usually crops up here if a website is censored, like most prn sites or torrent hosts. Sometimes ISPs go overboard and ban random sites (like Qoto), and Jio is especially bad for this. If you're on Jio, this might be the explanation.
@lethalbit
I know very little in this field, but the mention of KDE HIG reminded me that elementaryOS has one too: https://docs.elementary.io/hig/
@meesterfox
Definitely. I've found that I need to track those externally, or they'll get left by the wayside regardless of how important and impactful they are.
I used to use tools like HabitRPG (now called Habitica I think), now I just use a todo.txt file with these chores and self-care habits as recurring items. It becomes a fun game for the completionist part of me, to have them all checkmarked before they go red.
If you want to see Mastodon at its best, strongly recommend these options:
Android - Use apps Tusky or Fedilab
iPhone/iPad - Use apps Metatext or Toot!
💻 Computers - Log in through your server's website
Mastodon was designed for websites and third party apps. These are *still* the best ways to use Mastodon!
(Official app exists because new people were only looking for an official app in app stores, and giving up when they didn't find one. You don't need to use it!)
@dreacros@toad.social
It has a vaguely #NeilGaiman-ish feel to it, a dreamlike quality that pulls you into its world.
OK #MastodonAPI gurus.
I can use postman to update my status using the parameters specified by the spec but get a 404 when I use curl:
curl https://qoto.org/api/v1/statuses -H 'Authorization: Bearer myAccessToken' -F 'status= Testing Mastodon's API by updating my status'
Reminder that a lot of people just want to hang out with other goblins in their corner of the fediverse, and don't want to hear about what's going on at the other website. You can use a CW for Twitter like a subject line so they can skim past your post instead of seeing it in their feed when someone else boosts it.
Lots of people will click to see through the warning because they want juicy gossip and drama. You don't really need to worry about its "reach".
Others still will simply choose the account option which automatically expands content warnings.
@khaireddin
I have a paperclip icon below my post writing area, and if I click on it I can choose "Add Media". That lets me add either photos or videos.
@chrisdrackett
For Firefox there's this one:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/mastodon-simplified-federation/
that makes it so that the follow-able version of the page opens in the same page instead of in a popup (and without asking you to enter your id every time).
But the main mastodon.social instance has a new UI that breaks it, and I think other instances are slowly adopting it too. For now it still works in most cases.

I believe Qoto doesn't yet run a version of Mastodon that has this language tagging feature. @trinsec mentioned that an update is on the horizon (with ETA unknown as yet) that should make this feature available here.
if you have kids: allow them to skip school to catch up on sleep
if you're an adult: allow yourself to take sick days to catch up on sleep (I know it's not always possible but it SHOULD BE because it is NECESSARY)
if you can't get the sleep you need at night: allow yourself to take copious naps
if you find yourself pushed to the fringes of society by unusual sleep needs or patterns: it's not your fault. I shall talk about temporal accessibility another time
this is, once again, a case of the medical establishment reinforcing social stigma against normal physiological variations.
how many doctors tell you to just go to sleep earlier and tell you that sleeping late is unhealthy? this is just the same bullshit as always.
I'm here to tell you that your body knows what it needs, and if you listen to your body's signals and give it the amount of sleep it needs at the time when it needs it, you're doing everything right.

This is a rare #ActuallyAutistic trait that I can't relate to. In fact, it's the opposite for me - if I don't have frequent eye contact with someone while talking to them, it doesn't really feel like we're conversing. I find phone conversations pretty difficult because of this.
so since I am here now, allow me to do some SLEEP PROPAGANDA
SLEEP IS GOOD
SLEEP IS IMPORTANT
SLEEP IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANY EDUCATION OR JOB
and the fact that we are forced to compromise on sleep in order to fulfill duties to capitalism is an immense injustice and health risk.
lack of sleep obviously increases stress levels and therefore the risk for all kinds of diseases, but it also damages your brain on a cellular level because SLEEP MAINTAINS THE INTEGRITY OF YOUR BRAIN.
