@RustyBertrand
Hi!
Since you've boosted tweets about respecting the Mastodon etiquette in the past, I thought I'd mention: it's better to post these types of posts under a Content Warning. Usually just a mention of #USPol would be enough to let people know it's a US politics related toot, but in this case you'd also want to add "somewhat gory" or something like that.
Let me try my #introduction again the recommended way, by hashtagging out my interests:

Hi all, nice to finally be on Mastodon by way of #TwitterMigration. As an #introduction, I'm a research scientist working at KLA a semiconductor company in the Bay Area of the US. I have a Ph.D in #physics, which along with #mathematics has always been my passion, and I'm always up for a constructive discission or learning something new.
@mxtthxw I've been considering doing that. A lot of well-intended boosts, but does make things chaotic and feel all over the place.
@lina This has convinced me, more than anything else I've read or seen online, to try to learn Rust.

No idea, I came across this on my feed reader randomly, because I follow Hindu Tamil's tech section.
இருப்பாருன்னு நெனைக்கறேன், at least as an account for this article, let's see if this reaches him somehow!
"After buying #Twitter, Musk tweeted "the bird is freed". Now it looks like it's Twitter's users that are flying free, and exiting the platform"
Kudos to எல்லுச்சாமி கார்த்திக் for this great line 😆 and for a well-written article 👌

"Twitter users are fleeing to Mastodon | How Mastodon Works"
- an article in a local non-English newspaper! Pretty unexpected because newspapers here generally cover tech in superficial company-press-release way.
For something like this to make it in, the momentum for #TwitterMigration and #MastIndia has to be pretty big!

@linux_mclinuxface
I love how discoverable its interface is, none of the usual "just memorize everything" or "google every other minute for how to do X". The features are either right in front of you, behind a ?, or in the config.ini file. Easy to explore and figure things out quickly.
This is kind of an odd thing to post but I really want to emphasise how important it is to have political content behind a CW tag, and not boost posts that don’t adhere to that convention. Same thing applies with images and alt text. For those of us who have moved over from twitter I think it’s important that we pay attention to this. Mastodon isn’t twitter and we should really try to think carefully about how we interact here
@besenwagen me too! I have never felt so encouraged to be my authentic self. And I'm really digging the realness of the awesome #ActuallyAutistic #AuDHD #neurodivergent people I'm crossing paths with the here ✌️

🐈 are cuter to look at online, but 🐶 are more fun to hang out with IRL
@ceoln
Not for favourites or boosts, as far as I can tell.
If you have the "Reflect the following status on the follow button" checked on https://qoto.org/settings/preferences/other , a green icon shows up on the right corner for Follow notifications. You can also have "Show follow button on timeline" checked on the same page, then it shows the same status icon on Reply notifications and in your other timelines as well.
I don't know of a way to show that for favs and boosts though, without going to their profile.
Some people think Mastodon is too weird to become popular:
I joined Twitter in 2008. We had to put a "d" in front of a tweet to convert it to a direct message and every other day you had some embarrassing private moments exposed because someone forgot about the “d”. Hashtags were just a community hack, introduced by Chris Messina to somehow tag content. Search? Hah, you wish! Tweets via SMS were supposed to be a thing. Oh, and the daily meet and greet with the failwhale. Totally not weird.
Welcome to all of those joining the new #JuliaLang Mastodon : )
Teacher, trainer, developer.
Interested in books, tech, pets, being less wrong, and having my mind blown every now and then.
I'm also @Sundar where I'll be posting Julia tips, resources, etc.
