China’s Nuclear-Powered Containership: A Fluke Or The Future Of Shipping? | Hackaday

"Since China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) unveiled its KUN-24AP containership at the Marintec China Expo in Shanghai in early December of 2023, the internet has been abuzz about it. Not just because it’s the world’s largest container ship at a massive 24,000 TEU, but primarily because of the power source that will power this behemoth: a molten salt reactor of Chinese design that is said to use a thorium fuel cycle. Not only would this provide the immense amount of electrical power needed to propel the ship, it would eliminate harmful emissions and allow the ship to travel much faster than other containerships" hackaday.com/2023/12/26/chinas

Theories about BIG spoilers. You've been warned #DoctorWho #15thDoctor #TheChurchOnRubyRoad

@DekaBlack if it's not the Rani, will eat hat. Given RTD has form for raiding archives.

@lastofavari @foone if foone won't touch it, the rest of us should run, not walk, to the nearest exit();

:-)

I may have said this before but movies (et al) really do seem to be in an infinite loop of:

"What the hell, people don't seem to be interested in [media] anymore anyway. Let's just try something, take a risk on a few medium budget productions and just toss them out there"
"Our medium budget production is the hottest shit out there right now. It will be the backbone of our IP catalogue, we can't afford to take any risks on this. Just do it again, but with more money. We'll release it exclusivel

Thinking about this old comment mastodon.social/@mcc/111434729 (both I and others I've seen have made this comment before) and I think I just this moment realized how to get this daydream feature: make your own packages, with names like "andi-cosmic-project", with no files, and list the packages you were going to `apt install` as deps. Then later you can uninstall your "project" package and anything not needed can be autoremoved because they're just dependencies not "installs". I wonder if that's hard.

@mhoye first two don't count because sticky wheel and refueling. Gave up after that because clearly apples vs oranges

@mackaj @revk worse. Mavity makes it Earth 002, comic style. Allows to skim over COVID, gives a spare universe to undo Flood damage...

@tony @neil had to put foot down a few years back, and not be "the IT guy" any more for world and dog. Have enough at work to not want to support whatever random crap people have in private life as well. Most people got Chromebooks (per final recommendation) and never heard a peep since.

@CM30 doesn't help whole thing is basically a year late because Disney refused to pay screenwriters, so the whole US shut down for a year

The 15th doctors companion is care experienced and has a bandmate who is a trans woman and this is totally the most inclusive season so far and I’m all for it #doctorwho

@guide there are so many foreshadowing things now I need a list. From why the old face through to who was that next-door neighbor by way of who's hand was that, and who's the mother
