@robryk its a combination of features... It has a very condescending tone to it for starters. It usually uses cute words that arent actually words, sometimes even just mumbling "Abah booba you wittle boopie doop" stuff like that.
@freemo Yes, and it gets codified in certain circles of educational academia. I remember a first grade teacher telling me that 6 year olds were too young to comprehend fractions. And I'm like what??? 2 year olds can grasp 1/2 easily and have no difficulties in visually dividing things up equally with a small group of friends. Just try giving one an extra cracker and see what the rest have to say about it.
@Gaythia In general our children are way behind on their potential largely because we infantilize them.. The maturity follows from our expectations. 2 year olds have SO much more potential than most parents give them the chance for.
@Gaythia there is also just the issue of baby talk being condescending, but yea it also doesnt teach good language skills
@mike805 Yea its no surprise people drifted to a non-politician.. but one who is so over the top dysfunctional is astounding all the same.
@modrobert I dunno I do a ton of C and other non-OO languages and its usually a nightmare for complex systems... Works fine for simple and straight forward stuff though. But I usually work on the more complex stuff where it just wont cut it.
@mike805 Yea I dunno... im kinda surprised they gave him bail even without this comment..
To be fair his popularity is kinda hard to explain.. Id like to think its just the incompetence of Biden, which I can get behind... but part of me thinks there are idiots out there who legitimately support Trump on his own merit... that is scary.
@popeawesomexiii The existance of a mini mum implies the existance of a maxi mum.
@ideogram Yea the general narrative is they want benefits or are smuggling drugs or some nonsense.
@Baley Enjoy!!
@Baley Well normally shrooms arent able to talk... though in this case I suspect they can :)
@Baley Hahaha, fair... Now I just picture some canadian going "Come at me ya hoser".. then as they reign blow after blow upon me going "Sorry" every time a hit lands :)
@Baley Ahh, Canadians are generally a good bunch. Though I've found they have some of the same problems in this context. They tend to be very poor at confrontation, and that can often translate over to shyness as well. They just hate to disapoints so can be hard for them to reject someone I guess. All that politeness makes it hard to do the metaphorical wake up call I guess.
That said they arent nearly as disfunctional as Americans overall, that would be hard to do.
@Baley Yea being "subtle" or shy and expecting some mind reading I think is a flaw of both sexes, at least in america. Honestly, no offense to you as I dont know you and dont mean to include you, but dating in the USA is generally very childish compared to other countries I've lived and dated in.
@Baley Yea agreed, and i commented about that earlier. Context is everything. Im not sure id go so far as to say courting is needed. Ideally in public you start a conversation and read the persons comfort with you before you jump in with any sort of compliment that is too personal.
I think I agree on the point that women want boundaries and I think many men dont understand it and care a lot less about their own bundaries and project that on others. Because men are so often encouraged to be the initiator I think we more often have this sense of wishing women would push passed our faux boundaries (shyness basically) and incorrectly assume women probably want the same.
@Baley Well I am glad you werent offended, sorry I startled you.
I think the problem is maybe men and women are a bit different in this regard. Men, at least most men, would be quite happy to hear a woman finds him handsome in some way. So we treat women the way we would want to be treated thinking it would make them happy, when in fact it may just make them afraid.
@Baley I had mentioned to you once that you had pretty eyes in a picture... Did you feel hurt by this or offended (I hope not)?
While I do agree that neither eyes nor breasts should be anything to feel is an acomplishment, and I'd agree real accomplishments and the praise there of is far more meaningful... I think many people feel better about themselves the more physically attractive they are. Maybe this is a bad thing, but I think most people feel better when they think others see them as beautiful.
