@ThunderHoneySnow Wonderful goals, and I wish you the best in achieving it.
@bonifartius It would be a "nice to have" :)
@bonifartius ills ee what I can do as I slowly dig into this code...
@bonifartius Ohhh I see what you mean...
There may be a way to add the tags back but because the user doesnt control them their order and where they are placed would be arbitrary. Therefore it wouldnt convey the same information as when its manual like it is here.... that said I do agree that would still be better than no tags.
@bonifartius I would need to know more, but that sounds like a bad default... When you reply he convention in the fediverse is the firt tag is the person you are replying to. All other tags follow it (and usually at the end.
Thats because you may be replying to a long thread chain as the last reply, in an attempt to preserve the chain, but may not be directly replying the last person who spoke.
If we removed the explicit tagging that sounds like it would cause a lot of confusion. I often get messages like that, without the tags visible and I cant always tell who they respond to.
@thor I guess thats better than WeBeatYouWithStickYouPayUsMoney.com
@bonifartius Not sure I follow the ask... can you rephrase?
@sdgathman @freemo @Tealk It's an effort to come up with better safety tooling than simple shared blocklists which carry the danger of overblocking.
I think its a good approach to that too.. might need a little tweaking, but the idea of a chain of trust makes a lot of sense if it is applies correctly.
@noelle Thats probably best, or else people might need a second monitor to read it :)
You know, people complain about the Star Trek: TNG "one PADD, one document" thing, but I've never found it baffling. Yeah, of course they could have tabs, and they probably do. But multiple devices are a way to see multiple documents full-size at the same time, and certain commanding officers probably ask for multiple PADDs as a matter of course so they can spread them out and review them easily.
@noelle laughing about one padd one document is like laughing at a programmer who uses multiple screens, one to code, one to keep documentation up... Its practical and we do it now, so why wouldnt we do it with PADD
So I found this cool new tool that looks like a very new take on the idea of a blocklist, not really sure I can even call it a block list.
https://gui.fediseer.com/instances/detail/qoto.org
As I understand it it does a few things:
1) Only system administrators can get accounts, but users can view the data
2) a chain of trust which in and of itself only proves you arent a spammer. Anyone in the chain of trust can add other instances. Once an instance is in the chain then their admin can get an account and contribute
3) an instance in the chain of trust can add up to 20 other instances to the chain of trust. Should the instance loose their trust from their parent then the entire chain breaks including instances it trusted.
4) You can add endorsements.. this is stronger than adding someone to the chain of trust. It is a way of you saying "this is a good server" and explaining what features make them a server you endorce
5) You can censure instances too, these are instances you block and give reasons why.
6) there are also lesser categories like hesitations where you can list concerns but not suggesting blocking.
7) All this can be automatically populated from your instances black/white list if you wish. Or you can add entries manually
8) you get a little badge you can put on your servers about me that shows the number of endorsements you have live.
I do highly encourage everyone to check it out.
It was my pleasuure and well earned...
I suggest you consider paying it forward, feel no obligation to endorse us but if you feel there are instances worthy of endorsement or garuntees I humbly suggest you add them.
Either way, happy to help

There is a search its just shit
Its basically a democratic/distributed block list/white list/spam list where people can both censure (block), hesitate (kinda like a warning I guess) and endorse (approve) as well as garuntee (say you know the instance isnt spam)... it can be set to sync with your instances block list but can also be manual.
I noticed your main instance is already garunteed, so if you claim it as the owner, then use it to garuntee your other instances, then me and you and others can endorse those instances.
@freemo ooh, ill have a loook sie!
