A new person, more hope.

If you have done this process enough you realise this is not always going to be the 'one' (the person with enough self-belief or whatever you're looking to ping-pong something into something else).

Disinterest or disconnection becomes quite normal / frequent (it's part of the seeking).

For me I don't disconnect, I know everyone is imperfect at it will be apparent at the middle or end... but still accepting imperfection I feel is better than feeling bad about the person not being perfect or saying they like this more than that.

So you just have to accept "maybe" it's the next person or maybe the next 100,000 we meet along the way. And maybe literally you have to DIY trying best you can.

Working for a famous tech company, I get asked a lot "Why don't you use technology X?" X may be an application, programming language, operating system, hypervisor, processor, or tool. It may be because:

Also interesting how everything can be a con - for example recommending a technology and using Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs)

"Technology X may be too expensive because we're using another technology with a special discount that's confidential. If the reasons are under NDA, then I also cannot share it.

In one case I was interested in a technology, only to have the CEO of the company that developed it, under NDA, tell me that he was abandoning it. They had not announced this publicly.

I've also privately chatted with key technology contributors at conferences who are looking for something different to work on, because they believe their own technology is doomed.

At some companies, whatever reason may just be considered competitive knowledge and thus confidential."

Treating others better (not easy if you're in a low position)

This often this is why people act the way they do as they are hurt or usually insecure

Someone training their dog the other day told me their dog bark because it's insecure of itself.

So while there is difficulty abd hard to hear the advice...

"Don't let pain cause you to treat other people poorly"

...it's about finding a better way and getting your way - basically about communicating that and exploring middle grounds.

Just my advice. (And yes I do wonder why this is important to me and probably I have nothing 'better' to do than try this since I don't know how to change the people who stop other people from evolving.)

@amerika I'm not how to simplify my life any more than I have!
(not looking for much advice but I feel like encroachment is going to get everyone and basically will involve people taking what they don't have or taking loans/selling all they have (a short term solution)... so after even simple then what is what I'm thinking

@amerika And on the half topic of progress and things barely working or becoming very expensive... what to do when they clean you out of money with everything going up (you as in you personal or you general, your choice).

When you are already getting towards cleaned out and can't even pay electric- what to do?

Says for me what people perhaps don't expect as such a low dirty trick (but not telling people their real agenda)

I thought notifications on a few people's posts would help but it's also getting like follows where it's too many and I loose focus or pushes things down and mixes it up in Mastodon... hmm

The "let's talk now thing" is still good at sorting some out things after text gets too long or demotivating and sort out how serious people are about each bit, but preparing text is good (can be long) but reiterating in chat is satifying.

I wish they named it The Metrics as a more obvious thing but I guess that is also part of art not to say the obvious and I might have it wrong.

@tripu Another way of saying it (especially about STEM) is that measuring something is one thing but having any sort of meaning to others is another thing.

So measuring is almost a kind of language of calling something x, or a number, to which any measurement I grant has *almost* universal standard or looks like it with patterns etc... but the meaning to anyone else is actually of high priority, so what they think other than the measurer and values you attribute... (there is a lot of interpretation there or error / transfer of numbers from tools)
Putting a strict value on things is generally asking for trouble... yes it seems to 'get things moving along' but it's exactly those inaccuracies people stop working for....

Generally everything is priceless or immeasurably in valuable (just opinion of needed or as part for life more than number format) so if you ask us (the humans species) vs. 1 persons opinion + the mechanical measuring device they are using (also man-made) mostly for physical units of interpretations, then you might say there is a mismatch there.

That's why to put a number on it is too accurate and used a million times a second for big calculation does everybody an injustice (accumulated inaccuracy)... and therefore looking at a vegetable I can't say this is worth a number or currency other than being forced too. I would choose 'feeding all' or 'relieving suffering' as the default not the man-made profit or die default. A 'dollar' is actually quite a terrible shorthand for an living object.

I often ask parents who are looking for examples "How much is are you kids worth?" or daughter / son / etc... That is measurable but it isn't the aim of life **which I admit in the first line of your post it seems to assume "...and should be quantified".

No actually don't measure me but number or the cat or future...

I know it was dying I'd still pay 100 for a cabbage but 1 or 100 is not really matching a cabbage it;s own wonder.

I guess that's another thing, everything is in it's own category / realm / eco-system although *we* inidividuals can standardise it, actually in this 1 moment in time everything is unique or full of wonder how it got there... and mistake for us not to treat it as unique

I know it's locked down now with numbers as the way but 'relieve human suffering" and "share" or "work on those things as we progress of inaccurate numbers, mechanical thinking" has infinitely more value for me (value to me as pposed to numbers in a standard metric)

And of course people cheating using numbers / false accounting etc is something else.

But yes mostly people need the will to accept the wonder in being and that we could develop things given the same time as other stuff but current controllers currently block it. Arguably with currency which is even worse than number based counting as 1 dollar is actually different every day and equations out of wack too...

Each person has their own measurement.

And given the chance they would use their own way of representing things.
