Any system will find a big problem after time when it comes to humans and valuing things by 1 standard if it misses out many of the other attributes or values held but those people.

Maybe there is a cut off point but if a system fails to value those attributes which in the end are not measured, and then human-attributed values and preferences are not counted for, then you could say the game of measuring everything is more often not measured than is (we could make a list of all attributes and subtract what is measured).
This probably ties in with life too as 1 continue thing and not just work (which largely doesn't care and we'd hesitate and question why they did care also).

How people feel, where they are going, their hopes, what happened, who is the biggest arsehole of the bosses to manage or move on somehow because they force down everyone else to do the bad work for them etc.

If it consistently fails to value or measure attributes important for humans or humans-attributed value from a persons perspective and preferences then discontent and other problems definitely occur (in that measurement or displaced in everything else as social problems etc).

Not paid to care, that's the shortest way perhaps to write it.

What this means is instead of being easy going, we force things into being measured only in certain ways and numbers and don't care if people are happy about it or not or it wouldn't be a numerical thing.
Being happy it's not a supported measurement more than kicking people out or marking their card if they complain the business barely keeping them alive is not fair.

Happiness opens a big topic but it can be seen as simply 'are you happy about x or not?' and honestly taking answers and making life around that someone... (bending the tree of life back this way)

Happiness is also about things related to things like physically being able or not, or motivated or not (everybody has a different body type or thought-process and seems un-fair to assume standards are ok more than expect everyone to be different and not considering it one big learning adventure instead).

Apart from some basic *loose measurements* I think asking people constantly about happiness also gets use to similar places we try to feed people with instead of demanding or using financial system to force people to work.. only to eat, drop into a coma tired and wake up again.

So people work for places they *far* from like and don't agree with so maybe this could be a project.

MY NOTE: COMPLAINTS PROJECT

But that's the game of force even though my ideal comes from more the individual side.

It is possible to ask people to try things and even filling in the slots themselves... but the anyway the expectation for perfect constant motivation like a machine to do things and work for someone else or non-nature based work (travelling to the concert plastered city).... is far-fetched and also too much in itself to expect and the wrong way to do things.

We could find better things to pay ourselves for in better areas of city or places in the countryside. But I guess people won't let us... This post maybe tried to say what is quite obvious but I'm not too sure if people see it (I'm sure they feel it but not see it written much or others looking to do something about it like make a complaints system about everything!).

STEM gets blocked consistently (regulated) and while that can have a few good reason, most of it is for bad / controlling / monopolistic aspects..., else hijacked, patented out of reach from people, whatever... oh yeah monetised etc...
Even if there is 1 or 2 good reasons the other 10 reasons and way it's used is bad / self-serving to those above (do you trust the I don't !).

Perhaps like everything it's main gate to why STEM even exists.
My condolences if you just realise you're up again everyone else (Lord Voldermort type people / Big Bad Bosses, Legal Gangster etc)

Newbies often have their hopes and dreams in all sectors, doing things even for free, then when they get there they realise, "oh it's not just about effort, dreams, fairness" it's about raw extraction / devaluation of people.

Do we want more people here on Mastodon all together cluttering things when there is no progression path or training for them?

Possibly no from me (but the question is more detailed then that so read on before anything)

So while I don't mind new users at all, the dynamic game is also about existing people; the already wise and clever but still perhaps not quite there themselves... and if they just treat this as a clever side things using less-corporate mediums then it's still not really enough of a change in my mind for ant movements to keep ticking over. (moving profile to better space is good but also waiting for it to go down from mass or one reason or another is always also on the horizon). So it's really limited having more people here and not being able to do much any better and that's what I personally want . developing now we have the tech side and need the people believing in themselves and others a lot more.

It could risk this place also having more people like the latest thing that gets found out and goes away / templated out of meaning.

I rate the overrun factor of commercial interest more stronger than us doing what we have free right now so if we are not to play better games every day here and even step things up now we also might not have safer space or people that can re-create this again).

I would say we might find ourselves *wanting* for an ideal as a larger number but really what we want is quality avenues and movement paths.
With more numbers we might realise "what to do with them now they are here but acting like they are over there still?"...
which naturally is like "well, let them do whatever" but as the shit-shows go on, no not really over here please (sometimes it takes for shit-shows to come here for people to realise what we should be have doing all along, so I'm saying why wait for that?!).

As I see it it's also like this culture pool of people now, small / medium, 1000's of manageable responsive, clever, articulate people (of just a % from those that are responsive and want to entertain testing more things) but if you can't get those existing clever people to practice themselves and changing their mind using regular pub-style meetings then that's the acid test answer (i.e. we're not good enough right now to scale anything, the stock culture bacteria isn't strong enough to go seed / spawn anything).
Some might settle for something slightly better twitter, fb, insta and leave it there but I think you really have to entertain letting people work on finishing these quests to reduce their power while it's still small compared to where they will be in 1 year and the next.

The main point (if you are looking for freedom or not) is not just to have numbers but quality and methodology moving forward.

Give me the people and I'll show you these tests which are also about asking them... if people want to see change.

Many is seems have regular positions, enough wealth, regular comfort, good ethics ... and so see if people can do something for them / with them without too much mess... else more of the average stock person which doesn't have something setup for them isn't going to get much further and might quit Mastodon (yeah I believe we could pave the roads and help grow better people and not just accept twitter refugees as stock which is just going to grow more average people or need lots of time before they really get whats happening and being done about it).

Really out of 1000's then I think we better attempt more things before we really do get what we wish for and crumble under the weight!

If people are conscious or not... at some point that is the point I mean with the question. Sure let people hop on but also make paths and avenues for people to get together and facilitate that as branches.

While a little more conscious moving / talking I think the main game after moving here can be better... and the headz here can help make a better game from these shoulders we're on (thanks for sure to those before us).
But we gotta cut our snakes off a bit more. Really allow each other to do more in many more ways.

Can sounds ungrateful but it's natural to finish or unite the chain of things. I do check myself regularly so holding back can be good yes! But no activity / only experts busy = bad.

Basically if we can't do it with this small group of pool as a sample then the probability is just going to be fairly not much more even with more people.

The aim is not only to get people on Mastodon (I hope) but to let our own things fly.... even with clever / nice people bashing is nicely (at least it's not the mob) I think that works still.

Whatever you believe in at the end anyway it ties down to similar centralised/decentralised stuff and I think games / activity can be at various levels (from vocabb sessions to more in-depth stuff for example). That's the basic steps I see with Mastodon as platform right now with all respects due to existing effort perhaps more isolated.

@johnabs Yep - just the whole mentality I'd say and how people accept things too easily things and assume things are ok is quite alienating.
While it's survival based it ignore the problem and goes to feed problems that barely will keep them alive anyway.
So the alienating part is that they (parents let's say) forget to keep attacking what is the problem clearly and what they themselves feel or mention, and so without shaping things themselves I think in that way the whole 'culture' or biology is alien to me.
How to relate to the mindless follower?

Somewhere else geographically is much better perhaps like going back in time to a different snapshot point, but if culture / lang etc is going to be soon there too and make things similar it means if you don't do something to defend you know is coming and even people might want it not knowing what it's like once it's there (Thailand for example 10years changed/impacted) then things soon can wear off... which is why overall there is a battle to be won / undone for me as the templates are taking over hard / converting people and whole cultures gone / mono-tised / mono-cultured.

Moving around perhaps better like working at farms etc... couchsurfing even 1 country at a time and keep hitting the things you want to do / fix else the steralised boxed-in culture is the template.
That's what I account for in the alienation. For me parents and peers and just about everyone (including a few kind STEM folks) just didn't get it in how they are doing things and how long that will last. They also gave up on people.
Imagine a line of people walking off the edge but not seeing the edge or going for technology as the answer. It's just the falling off a cliff or dropping like flies.

People have no concept of what isn't ok... (and yes ok it's based on defective survival so it's very convincing until you believe/realise "damn" those ways are actually stronger and more efficient at killing things than what good that is left over or the toys given are shortlived). No Buenos.

I think it's really clear and just now in good youtube videos it confirms a lot more clearly what basically a few principle or lines of logic should already be set or sen in people's head I.E. THIS WAY IS NOT WORKING (but can get overridden by something else in the very next moment.

From whatever end of the nature disappearing or measured sense logic disappearing or God-given, self-logic you have, whatever, how can people not have the principles to make sense.

I guess I conclude it doesn't make sense (it just makes money)

And that is like 2 different species of human if people didn't get it already.

Other people are making the choice for you to make data available everywhere so if you use data then it's that time again to re-evaluate just before they steal the water for you.

Remote / cloud storage services are not working out well in many ways.

Reduce your demand and the data footprint is accordingly reduced and not in your name / not your fault.

30% of data centers in USA are taking 10% of water in some places and that's surely going to increase and cascade more problems.... and suddenly make water scarcity for residents... which then grows and make people pay more of course. Another way of a business from a knock-on effect or domino problem. Make more money off water.

Google of all people are asking for more and more water, converting it into profits. Probably for shitty videos we all have copies of (I'm reconsidering keeping them)

using less = less demand and so less other problems

This is the ultimate technological ultimatum / crossing point.
You must consciously choose internet or water (and not when it runs out either).

It's similar to those pictures of someone charging their mobile by unplugging the hospital machine that is next to them that helps them live. You can't cheat yourself or others like that.

MAKE A TARGET DATA FOOTPRINT
For example I've been reducing my life to 1 disk (1TB) and a few Gb's online storage... + 1 backup of all that (which isn't online and manually backed up)
I knew for a while I can lose data so I manually do it and it may be a couple of months back in time... whatever... who is going to miss that?

Totally sucking or occupying data while alive is what I see even clever good people doing.

@bhaugen Organizing is somewhat easy compared to what I think is important but over-looked: the disruption by others who wish to undo it.
Designs need to factor in other people's actions who are against our designs.

So after a while of repetition (protests / inventions that broke the back of hard work or helped feed the world like fertilizers / cures / power to relieve suffering ) you have to realise what you're constantly seeing in the world.
And if we are not factored in that properly then what is it.... hope... even throw away hope since we no they are or want to adopt solving suffering?

The 'do good' people naively don't put that into the equation or expect somehow for them to turn around 180. We seriously have to do it ourselves... 1 + 1 +1 +1 until we get there...
If we prepare next moves or don't expect bullies then the chain of building breaks this incremental approach (and they close the gap / loophole we found, and in legal terms this is what lawyers found when their own system fails them / always wasn't interested in changing themselves)

I think people might even say they expect it but just accept end of game and that's it. This is a bad end to effort.

So innocently or not I'm giving credit where it's do to other side.

There is active action against things once it's significant enough (if it's not a threat to change then design whatever you want I think they don't mind and even will use it).

In the case you make a perfect system, or clear alternative, then the more hi-jacked it's going to get, re-branded, raided, or just unproductive attention etc,

So it's naive for many good people to think it's only about collaboration, instead of the combat sports arena that they are currently inside.

You know about the profit 'system' I think, but for my own writing here I'll add the control rope is mostly survival based ties or security while roping in more and more people into more of these soft aggressive ways which is overall terrible (it leverages living life against itself rather than killing life against what it doesn't like as soldiers one did).

Also nobody likes to say it or admit it or it's hard even to fight about it, but that is somewhat inevitability in needing to do all those things. Near-0 experience is what people might have currently. So just a bit of verbal training helps.

Just right now we are easy pickings in that way and also not being able to even call the colour of money or power-orientated people what they are - this is also a problem if too polite and if you forget or too comfortable.
(yes people follow but they actually don't believe or realise the other abilities they have, measurably again with a bit of introduction and reciprocation).

We seem to need more thorny edges while still being able to softly give fruit to the right people picking (those ecologically minded / non-violent but also not just yes-men or only money-orientated etc)...

- If we were allowed to let things grow even a bit longer then it would have already found it's way to grow and solve itself, the same way the opposite has grown and snowballed now but using more diverse and accepting positions.

It's not just ignorant I-don't-have-time-to-understand-life parents but people who go "all-in" (poker style gambling) and want to win big.

- If you found the holy grail system tomorrow then you would get the according focus the very next day, same some inventors have got before which is why I'd recommend not releasing it. And factoring that in before is wise as you have control- once it's out you don't.

SO WHAT SHOULD I DO?
As a quick answer or ideal (and not knowing the context of any reader) the answer must involve the fixing / improving of *mentality* from our own competition mindset to one of collaboration... with and without trying to change any unfriendly 'bastards' because they really know what they are doing. It's a chosen profession and feeds them, you would also be actively attracting their attention when trying to find more good people more silently should be the way.

My equation today means if it's not a threat to the system then it will continue, if it is risking change it will get A-Z of focus and one will break it (unless you have A-Z counters + will-power knowing odds more stack against and even reveling in that).

More precisely than some of the above the system = 'systematic pattern for growing people and their mentality' (or something like that) and that is what we need to work on. Probably mind first at then at same time working on land and ways of defence / hardening will if we accept there isn't much else as a way or it's according worth it. (for example if we think one day they or others will do it for us we could relax and not do much rest assured they might get bored and stop copying / infesting their ways).

So what I'm saying is instead of thinking *almost only* about 'good design' or perfect diagrams (which I'm loving to see), instead of the new efficient code or anything now in tech (that mostly they release)...
the main work is "how to do all these things while being attacked in a.b.c.... x,y,z way" without also telling them and sending advance text about it.

'FREE' people and inventions also have a responsibility to see who is abusing it and basically make provisions / conditions / choose more carefully. Block them from weaponizing

Weaponizing* everything is very real today.

* Weaponizing = the putting of parts / components / code together (much like mechanical parts) and making a gun at the end from those innocent components - the end result of the chain is bad.

So what to do about it?

To start
- Don't under-estimate how well chains are put together or swap things in and out
- Imaging more 'efficient' can mean more destructive / faster at doing the bad / inhuman things. If it exist and work, no need x10 speed every year.

Even with 'Free' stuff / software / service / etc consider them as Free weapons and tools for people to plugin into their own mentality - so it's worth checking even if if you think something new is just great because it's 'new'... Keep a lid on it if really it has 10% good use and x10 bad.

If the website is giving too much data, lots of choice, etc ---> then it is for YOU also to think:
----> "Right too much info but what is it I want
-----> What do I like and can pick and choose
----> what are my own current projects and goals - can I match anything?
----> Can I do some tests / samples? Can I search keywords?

Find a way. It's in your power also.

If you're not serious then you won't really get a serious answer.

I admit websites and interfaces vary and can be like being forced in something different but it can be like a personality (not the persons always as it's just technology) but with basic text and pictures words there you caan 'crack the code!' and they don't change that much considering most are similar just with different front end or colour scheme...

Overall I guess it's better to think why am I here, can I try a bit and then also contact them?
Also let someone guide you through their own 'house' or see it as history and even a bit of a relic to adventure

We can't assume standard lives or technology always! But the basic text and pictures are reassuringly there.

I write this because people seem to give up INSTANTLY on seeing lots of information (like what a website should do but too much... as well as summaries and super-short feel-good stuff)

If you met Einstein like I did (in my dreams) then you might see a messy desk as something actually positive and refreshing so you can expect smoething more interesting or even fireworks for thoughts instead of 'sterile mainstream' commercial version lacking any personality and playing it too safe.

Eintsein even used to keep a messy desk! (and not saying you can't change things once in a while).

As you said if you "prefer peace through superior fire power" doesn't that mean your population is looped into working to pay others to build and sell to you? (maybe America which many don't want to deal with... and in $'s which compared to any other currency is probably weak and deiberately so/) ,,, so not just paying is my point

Looking at your sentence with peace adn superior fre power in the same sentence spells trouble for me. Actually negates effectiveness even if it partially or temporarily works and more just creates / perpetuates / escalates war in more readily puchased bombs and airplanes! I read you're previous posts before about why this model out-guns or out-manoeuvres another airplane model but still something about it doesn't just end there.

And then on top again more orders can be made with more toys and more buttons pressed and deployed, or trusting more people rather than some back-breaking way to solve the real problem which is proper peace and talking for hours... and even spending ALL THE MONEY in that... (if there is a will there is a way look at the tech we made and people might thinks we can't INVEST in more peaceful systems)

(probably all this doesn't work because the machine isn't the way - PEOPLE ARE... so despite all odds that's where we must head...)

but yeah maybe says a combination of how it works - I like your logic and things in some extreme do have some use like anything else

And then not to mention buying money (loans) from banks, increasing country debts (as we have) all needing to be paid back by the future children and becoming ENDLE$$ multipliers unless you can pay back before doubling etc. All fucking hard to do and even to ask future children to bear... could be better off not born than in war dying seriously - you s££ what has happened and happening all the time... did it every work more than just delay things and soften it out into spuermarket wars etc?

Lots of layers there in each paragraph above ^ while not assuming anything or that I have a solution it's more about what isn't the solution also! Not maximum fire-power I feel... "you might get us all blown up" is the feeling or that the tech could even be stolen / hi-jacked / precision bombed just to wa$te all of our money which a lot may have been and I assume is inescapable... seems after a limit it's just digging ourselves a hole for pockets, in earth and only for us to jump into it or into the cockpits. The complexity seems clear - or maybe bigger the better and scares everyone away until the new model jets and then sell the old to the 3rd world cheap?)

Unless you personally can make it (or your country can manage and has materials I don't see it) then it's in someone else's hands ("USA! USA! USA!") also not good in MANY WAYS.

It could be Just a big pile of $hit and then you have to buy the later from BIGTech style setup who then sell it to others (who might be a bigger country to you in currency power, geographic etc etc, and again more and more).

And then spreading this kind of paradox of peace and fire-power (which I can accept) only spreads to others you have different mindset s (if it was just you I could trust you but other people in the old mindset pushing button, na)

What makes you think it's a good idea manufacturing and loading up guns, air-power etc and then it not turning on you (for many more reasons like the internal cases) which seems even worse?

But even contained to general country vs. country wars it seems a bit like a high risk thing which deals with previously VERY $HADY people.
Which game are you playing here that ends well with superior fire-power ? Is it just about posturing and hoping your own people don't invade others?

(you have to admit much of this unless you're as dictator is way out of your hands + all your civilian money spent $9999999 or however many zeros + lots of double edges to your superior edged fire power kind of swords)
