@PiedraFiera
I agree but this is one of those things that does have a lot of truth, much like stereotypes that aren't great way of saying / have a lot wrong and personal bias but does point to clear cultural differences and truths once you get past the offence of labelling it but whatever name.

So for your context I would say yes but unfortunately truth is more towards these things:

Western civilization IS the whole [*problem*] of humanity. It somewhat dictates / restricts all life.

In short these sides of the planet are more the creator / killer / template maker / what all people MUST base their life on and they too are part of enforcing / keeping it going... if not them then others are the ones that fall or suffer under it's rule or the handful of countries undoubtedly 'exploring' / hunting / subjecting it to economic and tech wards.... (most still have flags, dominion, control).
Even in the past going off on the weekends and having battles / wars - much the same happening in other more economic translated ways / avenues (even if you don't see dead bodies the energy via money or blood from working is being killed / pocketed. Greed continue with being born the excuse to keep it all going - a hard one for sure).

Anyway so that's what I see as more the truth without reduce your truth... A bad shorthand but mostly true - I think the patterns and frequency and continuation earn 'blame' and even beyond on many levels of society (normies and lemmings included as *they know* and continue without even looking for solution) ... but also it's healthy for not to stay in that side of problems and more look at solutions, so it is deep but not to stay there and wallow is good... (like racist might) -
People did a lot of $hit. I think it's good what you say though the list of how to say it I take suggestions on... as I myself think Americans as a petri dish and everything refined from it is so evolved that anything but a few good eggs are literally the problem (like the whole land and people inside almost has been overun by bad ideas or cutting other cultures within it to become a mono-culture about money or power, sterilisation etc).

I'm also trying to fight not labelling the west and mention just the patterns and the mentality and the control systems and the city environments and the concrete and lack of nature, habitat and lack of culture itself and lack of will-power to fix things etc etc
etc
etc
and then at the end I might as well say anyone that says is probably 70% right so I might ask them about specifics and not be offended...

Anyway no idea why you wrote this but hope that's some idea about it to harmonise what you think... 'm quite flexible but prefer people to say it and then refine but helps to see how better I could improve blaming U$A etc...

I think this kind of post once in a while makes sure we know what it means because there are good eggs in the west and everywhere..
but maybe more lemmings knowingly on some level complicit... who won't even talk about it (but will complain, and never want to solve)...

Born in the West? Part of the problem by previous design that reinforces more of the same...
Advice welcome.

@barefootstache Lemmings is a euphemism for a person that doesn't think or can't think for themself... it's also a game where you direct Lemmings and they keep going in the direction you set them regardless of any danger ahead (they don't think for themselves)

Also similar to how you might have heard people talk about others like sheep
(though I think sheep are actually 1 level above in this kind of context!)

Recently I've posted a few lemmings related things

So Lemmings here is similar to the game where 'people' just follow as directed like lemmings.

And just out of interest do you feel sometimes it's an unthanked job running an instance... or maybe more that it's too much work ?

Optionally anything about the cost per year would be interesting as co-ops or people I think want to get in but don't have projections for cost or real examples so feel free to say what you can per year or per Gigabyte or whatever... helps keep it real and not a hole people dig (PeerTube instances close down because it gets too much but this is more text/pic based so thankfully better compared to that)

Spam can said as spam purely because *it's interpreted* that way... but isn't always what someone calls it...

I think what people label as spam often isn't - it's just something they dislike or want to point out as a mistake or misplacement, but then overstep in calling it something they don't quite understand or never explored in it's meaning (can be said in many ways / feelings)

NO NEED READ THE REST - WILL REVISE IT ONE DAY / PURIFY

** This isn't out to anyone but came across it a few times and see from my search box I didn't write about it in detail so here it is **

I think people hear others and say without actually learning or being corrected on the actual contexts to use it properly - so to me it's an umbrella term taken on by the public or interchangeable person and unclear in it's itself as one-word.
In which way it's disliked or unwanted?
Is it just the non-gmail address that makes you say 'spam'...
Is it the use of pseudo-name?
Is because someone is asking you something you think they never should?

I think it's usually used as a dislike more than just unwanted' neutral feeling (as people are not that neutral usually!... also spam sounds like getting hit by something rapidly.... so that also helps to see 'spam' as 'too many emails I already can't handle so I just want to focus on 1 thing' (basically spam if your life is too hectic / overwhelmed). "You're spamming me asking questions! Help me someone!"

This can be unfortunate for meeting new people because if it's interpreted as spam then it means the reader is defensive and perhaps hostile. So it can create more trouble also from those interpreting it that way.

Spam is different to pointing out that someone's message is in the wrong category or wrong place for discussion...

While it's true the message might be 'unwanted', it's often overkill in some forums etc to sterilise or label messages as 'spam' so soon as 'spam' has many meanings (mostly of negative connotation)

If one isn't sure then instead of pulling out the word "spam" they can check what they mean
- for example:

- Is it technically spam?
- Is it a personal dislike?
- Do you not like what they said?
- Do you not like the look of them or their profile?
- Are they hiding their real name because they are not sure of the internet?
- Do you take offence by putting a personal website as a kind of 'advertising' of their existence and websites as introduction are bad?
- Do you just not have time to deal with anything else?!

It can be better suggesting a better route for original poster or better place for messages unless really you're sure. If it's a user with only a few messages then it's not clear.

So this helps more than labelling it "spam" as it's more of a dead end and block when the person may not be wanting to be offensive or threatening anyway.

You can in turn be sure to offend that person with this reply by labelling so very early or simply because you personal don't like it etc..

This all helps be less of a mistake in the whole "human relationship" and 'human dynamics'... It's too easy for it to go wrong fast.

Mini-example - I personally think advertising yourself through your own website is a good thing and good introduction if you prepared it a bit. Others can see it as spam or like your selling something... and to be honest many might not care about your life... so you yourself are spam I guess in their eyes

It is a fine line but the more accepting way is to see what person is on about first and then judge... point out better direction and say any of the sub-components to your feeling without going over the top.

The above questions will help you filter why you feel the way you do.

Similar to reporting spam / flagging. it's helpful for accuser to say why...

I personally message many people, but question if it is spam for trying to be social? An if I genuinely believe it?
I can take the answers from offers but speaking on my behalf so early if perhaps natural with some people as part of the introduction process (to life or social or getting on with people).

I guess the answer lies with others how they feel (they probably don't want to say) but now you know what to look out for if you feel it or get the feelings from others.

Being so charged or hateful in reply is 100% not the way.

And for me at least it does make mutual sense for some people to pollinate ideas / work with many people... by trying with many people (like a spammer would but less ignorantly or underhandedly).

I guess it's a 2-in1 moment where you get the answer and reply only by asking!

@SuperDicq
How did this go by the way - much complaints or trouble -

And I guess technically it's just a roll-back?

@feditips WONDERFUL POST + cool would be to see prices as a graph so people know what they get into if users add up (PEERTUBE instances ask I think desperate for donations obviously didn't always get enough and just have to be shut down unless benevolent / rich enough). Data does add up (but for text based less so)

To get a ball park figure down the line a graph or run down of short and long-term cost would be 5 STAR!

If want to show their *general* projections / past costs THAT WOULD BE COOL.

<3

The data dilemma / data check-mate = having your life as digital files with hopes attached to them that one day they will fit into the scheme of things... but not being able to let them go (or even organise them and reaching maximum capacity constantly... deleting and just filling it back up again)

Time invested... held hostage by your own existence....

Help!
A mixture of personal memories
+ potential project work
+ genius with the right admirers...

Should I delete or somehow organise a way....

But organising a way is also about people taking / sharing / working with what I have.... and they have probably shit loads of their own... Do I even want to share / can I?

UNLESS... hmmm

Somehow we make our own story together and weave it into a bigger patchwork (and then put upload it somewhere...)

Data needs to be used or losed?,,,

oh man what a dilemma

The Game of Life = Perfect Imperfection - please accept that and some sub-imperfections

- Nothing is straight
- Not always what you see is as you see it
- Learning and better practices cost time and energy worth factoring in / allowing as good ;waste' since bad humans do worse damage
- Social Learning is a changing constant - accept and integrate
- Perfection in the sense of pure maths with humans in mind doesn't work and can even be abusive
- There are too many to human variables to measure (ignorance of this or only measuring a few KPI's leads to a spectrum of fascism; auth / hier / domination with few filtered focuses usually financial or self-perpetuating power based)

SUMMARY
- don't try and fix the dynamics of Life too hard- focus on the human dynamics instead as the head of all thing or the users of all things... so to live with imperfection and allow other to learn and promote what exists around (our habitat / planet / food for pretty much low cost or using will of people to keep everyone else alive!).
And a bit of a song and dance from time to time.

Something for a Manifesto to integrate once we find a way to integrate it all, if not talk about it for now

@freemo @calligraphy @funny
funny and true but what a sin in the first picture to start with no paper remaining for the full word

@Placholdr
If it helps without going the other extreme, most doesn't have a meaning already... and even the humble don't make a big thing of it.. so with that it *could be* better than it looks... certainly you would notice it less the more humble / silent people are going about things... The noise is what you might see more... while also coming to terms with consuming as existing, still the curve can be cured further.

Simple Meme vs. My Own Advanced Story version when it comes to selling / adding price to things

This shows that free stuff or giveaway items has some important context though at first seems 'easy' (the faults of TL;DR / short stories / faults of memes)

Because even free is not a clear subject (Free as in 0 money)...

Are you serious? I always have to fight to find a fridge and scavenge the pump from it.
Within 2 hours from it being dumped all valuable parts are gone.

@rastinza LOL hard times :)

Depends where you are - more luck to you.... with err fridges which yeh more useful than one seems (in the right hands as always)...

Also do you mean people take the stuff out where it stood originally like getting heir screwdriver out etc and then you come to it and realise the pump you wanted is gone?

and obviously point was more about the mentality

Yes, people come and scavenge parts, specially metal pieces that can be resold

Hello, it's winter where I am but I understand a lot of the world is experiencing extreme heat. As an Australian who has survived weeks of above 40C temperatures, fires, and prolonged drought I have some advice.

- In dry heat close your house. Close windows, draw blinds. Darkness is your friend. Open at night.
- Heat rises, so keep low if able - downstairs instead of upstairs.
- Use fans / aircon if you have them but prepare for possible electricity outages as demand increases.
- Damp towel over forehead.
- Drink water. Have it with you all the time.
- Stay out of the sun. Remain inside or in shade.
- Wear a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, light clothing if you do go out.
- Reduce activity. Rest more. Don't go jogging at midday or anything like that. Heat is physically and mentally exhausting.
- Go out if you need to in the early morning or late afternoon / after dark.
- If you can, keep kids home, & work from home.
- If it's still hot at night take a quick cool shower. Sleep is easier at 20C or below.
- Check on elderly & frail. They are vulnerable.
- Let yourself sweat. But keep up electrolytes with sports drinks or medically appropriate hydrating drinks / something like that.
- Your workplace / school should develop an extreme heat policy for health & safety.
- Don't go sight see near fires. Stay away.
- Keep a radio or access to radio stations available for advice from your emergency services / weather / news services.

Fridge Tip + Electricity Saver

Noticed my fridge is on a lot -
sometimes all the time at night because it's all closed and warm from day!

Opening window at night slightly will bring cool air and reduce air pressure inside.

Because fridge is actually taking more energy and over-working when you probably don't need it to be so cold (or room / kitchen so hot)... so important at night to check this and save electricity...

Consider:

-Turn down the dial (inside fridge usually)

-Listen to your fridge right now...!
If it's vibrating it's taking around 90w which may not seem a lot until BUT IF MOSTLY AT NIGHT ON WHILE YOU ARE NOT AROUND and warmest INSIDE this is going to be waste of electricity to cool down more in a warm room!

The key part of this post is realising that if electricity is UP x3 in some countries than even the usual bill or fridge is x3 electricity...
So then waking up at night and realising the fridge still isn't turning off is an alarm bell for saving$....

During the day keep curtains closed to block sun

A few good points in post below for heat / cold moderation.

aus.social/@becadroit/10865744

TL;DR
Heat can also take excessive energy in the need to cool cooling devices.... check fridge
nowwww! What setting is it on?...

Lemmings - accept them for what they are and even enjoy them from a distance in The of ...

For some life is more than just this animation and more about real / proper human survival in the level above short-loops / short-talking/short-texting...

That is a meta game in that sense lemmings do not get. And that's ok.

@alcinnz Of course you don't - you've seen its code and deeply understand it.

Does it work? Yes. Can small administrator errors cause it to fail? Yes. Does it fail well when there's an issue? No. Does it help guide people to the problem? No. Is it approachable for end user admins? Yes-ish, if they don't do anything non-default, but that's a steadily shrinking group of people.

SystemV had some similar problems, but the learning curve was easier to climb and less damaging in the early stages.
