Problems of Trialware etc is that it's limited / incomplete features (basically author strips program), so I don't download it or deliberately lets you get to some level and you realise "oh I need this part that's not there". Some are generous but I guess the main thing is not needing to do these kinds of shenanigans to give it all and get as much as people can give... even a virtual coffee or thanks counter - just something!

At the same time problems of FOSS or full software is that we can't pay people back others really (so for example without money or buying giving something else in exchange as well as some paying etc)... or it's hard even to contact them

Ok that's the equation... about getting and giving.

Sometimes it's hard just to say thanks (github only for example).

Text inside picture says...

" Graduated in 2010, and for the past few years I've been teaching.
I was among the last batch of humans who will remember what the world was like before the internet.

Before cellphones, social media, and constant connectivity the complete reformatting of the human mind.

The average human's identity is now just as rooted in digital personas as it is in physical world.
In a realm where there is no action, only words, your words become your actions.

More and more the physical world seems to shrink, becoming beholden to things that do not exist. The future becomes enslaved to an eternally expanding record or anything and everything, the past now meaningfully indistinguishable from the present.

Every day I speak with kids who are incapable of conceptualizing a world without this. It colors their expectations for themselves and society, robs them of true interpersonal moments, limits their ability to think and feel.

Nothing really ends of disappears from them, and so value is impossible. Some things are preferable over others in the moment, but art, entertainment, culture, information itself is as disposable as oxygen. "

It is all just stimulation. "Content."
I love these kids. I can see their humanity in there, unsatisfied and starved for something they don't even know how to name. The ability to shut it all down, I think. They want to go back, too.

MY ADDED NOTE:

VERY GOOD LINES I'D QUOTE IN THERE, QUITE MOST- though the last line people have consciously exchanged sometimes and to be honest it was very boring or not as educational (as well as the crap)...

SOLUTION?
We perhaps have to really PICK and choose everything though some things like the picture says is by creation or default not able to not do things as it was created that way (newer tech can't undo as easy so forced into using the rest of the bad things too and this is violence to an extent- under "structural violence" by cornering people technologically for control and manipulation means, for profit and prostituting them silently or against their will holding an ultimatum or binary "use or don't use" as it's means of coercion). And that's if you aware.

Signup often means "become a member of [whatever.com]"

Signup may sound less harmful or less a big step than "Become a member"

So remember that as a Member in anything you are under those rules (capitalised 'Member' is different to 'member' also).

So if you sign up to American company you under that House's of Rules (including law over-looking all those rules).

Do be careful Neo.. America is very aggressive.

We could do with reducing the
'signup' (which is also an military-type term) and reduce support for aggressive people

(even if that would include reducing our own usage)

Words can be like throwing spears or target practice
What fun! :)

Even some sparring in a competitive boxing match can be good. In and out, not always too long. Take what you can.

Getting people's reasoning is obviously excellent source of... education.. reality... entertainment perhaps but overall healthy refinement and training thoughts
( if that's your direction or what you aim for... )

Towards healthier people and healthier mindset by training it.

and more explained version below:

BUT ALSO GENTLE IN THE MIND :)

The Great Dictator (Transcript of Final Speech, acted by Charlie Chaplin)...

" I’m sorry, but I don’t want to be an emperor. That’s not my business. I don’t want to rule or conquer anyone. I should like to help everyone - if possible - Jew, Gentile - black man - white. We all want to help one another. Human beings are like that. We want to live by each other’s happiness - not by each other’s misery. We don’t want to hate and despise one another. In this world there is room for everyone. And the good earth is rich and can provide for everyone. The way of life can be free and beautiful, but we have lost the way.

Greed has poisoned men’s souls, has barricaded the world with hate, has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed. We have developed speed, but we have shut ourselves in. Machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge has made us cynical. Our cleverness, hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery we need humanity. More than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost…

The aeroplane and the radio have brought us closer together. The very nature of these inventions cries out for the goodness in men - cries out for universal brotherhood - for the unity of us all. Even now my voice is reaching millions throughout the world - millions of despairing men, women, and little children - victims of a system that makes men torture and imprison innocent people.

To those who can hear me, I say - do not despair. The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed - the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress. The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people. And so long as men die, liberty will never perish…

Soldiers! don’t give yourselves to brutes - men who despise you - enslave you - who regiment your lives - tell you what to do - what to think and what to feel! Who drill you - diet you - treat you like cattle, use you as cannon fodder. Don’t give yourselves to these unnatural men - machine men with machine minds and machine hearts! You are not machines! You are not cattle! You are men! You have the love of humanity in your hearts! You don’t hate! Only the unloved hate - the unloved and the unnatural! Soldiers! Don’t fight for slavery! Fight for liberty!

In the 17th Chapter of St Luke it is written: “the Kingdom of God is within man” - not one man nor a group of men, but in all men! In you! You, the people have the power - the power to create machines. The power to create happiness! You, the people, have the power to make this life free and beautiful, to make this life a wonderful adventure.

Then - in the name of democracy - let us use that power - let us all unite. Let us fight for a new world - a decent world that will give men a chance to work - that will give youth a future and old age a security. By the promise of these things, brutes have risen to power. But they lie! They do not fulfil that promise. They never will!

Dictators free themselves but they enslave the people! Now let us fight to fulfil that promise! Let us fight to free the world - to do away with national barriers - to do away with greed, with hate and intolerance. Let us fight for a world of reason, a world where science and progress will lead to all men’s happiness. Soldiers! in the name of democracy, let us all unite!

Final speech from The Great Dictator Copyright © Roy Export S.A.S. All rights reserved

The Great Dictator was Chaplin’s first film with dialogue. Chaplin plays both a little Jewish barber, living in the ghetto, and Hynkel, the dictator ruler of Tomainia. In his autobiography Chaplin quotes himself as having said: “One doesn’t have to be a Jew to be anti Nazi. All one has to be is a normal decent human being.”

Chaplin and Hitler were born within a week of one another. “There was something uncanny in the resemblance between the Little Tramp and Adolf Hitler, representing opposite poles of humanity, ” writes Chaplin biographer David Robinson, reproducing an unsigned article from The Spectator dated 21st April 1939:
“Providence was in an ironical mood when, fifty years ago this week, it was ordained that Charles Chaplin and Adolf Hitler should make their entry into the world within four days of each other….Each in his own way has expressed the ideas, sentiments, aspirations of the millions of struggling citizens ground between the upper and the lower millstone of society. (…) Each has mirrored the same reality – the predicament of the “little man” in modern society. Each is a distorting mirror, the one for good, the other for untold evil.”

Chaplin spent many months drafting and re-writing the speech for the end of the film, a call for peace from the barber who has been mistaken for Hynkel. Many people criticized the speech, and thought it was superfluous to the film. Others found it uplifting. Regrettably Chaplin’s words are as relevant today as they were in 1940. "

MY OWN COMMENTS:
I would like to steward people / give them general directions with measurable reasoning without measuring too short their own individuality.
I would like to increase diversity while keeping nature as the base of humanity and basic interaction between us all since preserving planet preserves us... I would keep us suffering less of these luxuries today as they are also a liability and bigger cost to earth than it gives us satisfaction by working ever harder and paying more with spiralling crazy cost just to rent things. Not rent, property if you really live there.

I want to live by each other’s happiness and keep calm, not to rob people of their time and cause suffering as a means of control (although it works well I have to admit and people can run riot with their other 'logic' too, so in a way I don't blame people who want to keep people down... but perhaps if we can demonstrate and practice understanding, emotional intelligence, logic and reasoning THEN we can believe it's worth leaving adults unchained...)
UNITE like we do when we have a common enemy but use misunderstanding as the fuel for thought and doing things for each other.

I'm sure I'll re-write this again....

Good for adults and children.

I have actually been part of a bike-powered home cinema which needed:
- 2 static bikes
- Small projector
- Inverter
- Regulator
- Battery and maybe a few other bits I forget

For hours audience took turns to cycle (or just me with smile on my face)

If you have experience with this let me know!

Cigarettes = Tax to Govt's (Money for War...)

Cigarettes create A LOT OF MONEY (usually about 15-20% is taxed on them and goes to government per pack!).

A lot of money is generated and gets spent on military sector & equipment as a result...

There is correlation from when cigarettes were not popular or even accepted that a campaign to "support the troops" used cigarettes to represent 'freedom' or even women liberation (see posters on my war posters collection page: freeschool.0id.org/world-war-i)

Those tanks and jets, jet fuel and metal flying overhead are not cheap to build or buy and then maintain! A bad circle if you ask me. Got a cigarette mate?

My Tank Man tribute (pictured)-
"No Tanks" in form of Cigarettes

WHAT'S SO SPECIAL ABOUT CIGARETTES?
You pay taxes on everything you buy, so what's special about cigarettes?
Heavy Tax (called 'Duty') % is taken from cigarettes and similar products of toxic pleasure (like Alcohol, Petrol etc) and it directly goes to funding war equipment and personnel (if your country also spends about 50% of tax on military!).

POINTS List:
- Was massively pushed as product to support war initially and directly EARLY 1900'S,
- Women's liberation / Suffragettes / Feminist hijacking propaganda ("do your bit" / "support the men" / "for the cause" type emotional stuff)
- Fashion sponsorship
- Movies
- Formula 1 motorsports BIG money and tech (eventually minimised but was big money advertising with MALBORO on side of F1 cars going round and round!)
- Higher taxes on these drug type things (= higher duty)
- Same setup in each country / it's a template for war funds

Very lucrative and self-perpetuating as problem habits = more money.
This income is system supported.

Again the World War posters encouraging people to start smoking and support war, if interested see and other posters show mentality which is still around today

So for the symbolism this is mainly written and to show the tax part AND also individuals can stand to the problematic circles

Modern versions including holding up police vans in street, cycling in the middle of street pretending not to hear sirens or busy main in a critical mass protest.

The physical presence vs. mental perseverance - it does matter.

Some comments I got from another page:
---------------------------
- One of the most iconic image of the century! That man standing in front of a Military Tank! What bravery, what defiance! Truly inspirational

- He was stopping the tanks leaving the square. Ironic much?

- You know what? This shows more the restraint of the army than the heroism of the individual.

- His name was Wang Weilin (王维林). Never forget it

- Historical momentous scene of 20th century that inspired millions to resist

I love people more than I love machines.

I value people more than I value machines.

People also care for everything else, so caring and maintenance of people = maintaining all else.

Machines don't look after machines well.

Q. How many viewers did a video with magnet stuck to a standard fan blade?

How easy is it to forget you were cooking something... and leave it for a hour or two!!!.........

+ NON-TL;DR FOLOW

But then how clever is it to always start your cooking on the lowest heat or lowest flame knowing of such a possibility and opting for the lower sides of heat and temperature... and less damage!

Have you ever had a young person working with you?
Notice that some want to keep forever working or some you are tempted to push them into doing more and work?
There is a natural/normal sense of getting most out of someone and even robbing them / cheating physics in order to achieve something (getting shit done)

That's basically life with our rulers right now who want us basically just to work for them 24/7 and pay for sleeping / accommodation / water etc !

And then they find ways for those that don't want to work for bad leadership or uninteresting monotonous work.

Viva La Evolution !

(Not Revolution so much but grinding out new normals!)

Personal Story / Anecdote

A 20-30 year old visited for a few days and he said he never heard of such things I mentioned... like a lot. About banks, about business, extraction lines... Most was in such agreeable simplicity (it helped he was also already decided to change his life and give up studies somewhat before out meeting and his travels)...

I was actually more shocked than him how isolated children must be or just how far in study mode they must be most their life that life has past somewhat - but I guess we are oblivious or ambivalent when younger and in 30's realise WTF and take charge a bit more...

But taking advantage of the new is what I don't like despite encouragement needed (not force or passive aggressive monetary stuff / student loan debts etc).

Any students / post-grads welcome to visit... while you're still young (or old!)

Friendship inevitably involves feelings.

Usually because you have more scenarios with friends, soul mates, partners etc or have to go deeper that might test you or encourage new ground for discovering each others feelings / preferences / awareness etc).

(imagine a game map for the first time which is dark until you go there and realise what that part of the friendship is about and even learning together what you're not sure of about that part of the map).

The pain of being friends is a positive opportunity of learning more (about each other, the scenario etc).

Being distance friends might seem 'less painful' but is not further in learning or finding those that can deal with imperfection and even make it fit perfectly between 2 or more persons.

Why is SELF-HOSTING EMAIL AND SPAM such a problem?

BASIC SOLUTION BELOW /
INCREMENTAL WAY

How about setting up white-list almost exclusively instead of spam protection and clever filtering?

(so no need for spam protection if only expecting what you add as 'ok' on incoming whitelist...)

- just people you know are added manually to list as you start emailing them and adding-as-you-go
- and never expecting email from anywhere else

+ even a temporary 'Allow All' switch if really needed and for subscribing / registering to places online...

and then switch back to 'Block All but Whitelist' (or equivalent option) when done

What do you think ?

(especially as a 2nd more-private account could be easier rather than filtering etc!)

(Picture is a virtual thing I made - different slightly to text topic but I dream of Mail + Mastodon MERGING!...)
