You made me laugh when I read your post😊.
I have to admit I may feel this way too when it happens.
I think things have changed so much in 15 years!
I was walking a lot before and i don't as much.
I wanted to ask you why would it be bad to give if not a shovel but some parts of your garden to your kids.
That can actually help you out (?)

@globcoco The general idea of helping out in the yard is a good one, but most days these days it's too warm to be outside for any length of time. It's expected to be 108F (42C) today, and being outside for long in that is just not healthy. The second issue is my kids are still pretty young. The oldest is 11. They'd require supervision if they were going to be working in the yard, and that isn't helpful for me while I'm working from home.
